HELP! navy and black together, yay or nay?

I'm eyeing up a navy (with a thin black placket) silk shirt. I would wear it to a fancy party with some navy suede booties (already have) and buy some skinny black leather or satin trousers to go with.

My mother raised her eyebrows and told me navy and black should be together. Fair enough, I know v. Little about fashion. What do you think?

Blouse is ordered and I picked up some tight black trousers in the sale today, so I'll see what it looks like when it arrives.

Alternatively I also have a black jumpsuit (really not a dress person!) But it's sleeveless and quite low cut, so I always feel a bit exposed (and cold!) In it! Maybe I'll be brave and post pictures of both when the shirt arrives.

I think yes too.

Can you link to the blouse OP?

It works if deliberate but not the navy suit with black tights and shoes which just looks like l have no navy tights or shoes

But then you end up with varying shades of navy and just look too matchy yet not matching. It's a tricky one.

Yay. Navy and black can look great together imo :)

Yay.

Yes! As said previously, if it's clearly deliberate then you will look fabulous xx

If your blouse already has navy and black I don't think you'd have an issue with it.

Shirt has arrived, colour wise I think it's fine BUT it's not a great fit so it's going back Sad
