WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp PROPER, week 1 - Feb half term to April

WideWebWitch · 18/02/2007 19:52

Hello, this is week 1 proper of a new 10yy six week boot camp. Anyone who did boot camp lite last week, as I did, may want to be very strict with themselves this week although I suppose it depends on when your half term is and whether you are working through it or away or something.

The rules are:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Welcome all members old and new.

Cannon St honey, I am not bionic - or a Bionicle. But it does involve some power walking round the fragrant high-walks of the Barbican

jeangenie · 20/02/2007 13:12

can I join please? I definitely want to feel and look younger and need to lose about a half stone in weight (at least, too terrified to weigh myself since Xmas tbh)

my big challenges are going to be the water and the exercise...

today so far I have done ok I think, sunscreen on, at least 5 portions fruit and veg, 2 large glasses water (whereas would normally not have had any by now). Ok there have been a couple of large teas and a decaf coffee in there too and I need to buy some body lotion (can never get in the habit of putting that on regularly for some reason, but will try again)

now, shall I get off the bus a couple of stops earlier tonight or rush straight home for pancakes

DinosChapman · 20/02/2007 13:59

I'm so glad you're doing this again, as I fell off the wagon in mid-Jan and never got back on again.... I thought I'd have to wait until Jan 2008!

Anyway, today I have had rice crispies with semi-skimmed milk (rubbish, but they need eating), a fruit salad, an apple and some soup.

I walked for 25 minute this morning on the way into work.

And have put on moisturiser that has SPF 15.

And didn't drink any alcohol last night.

(It's Dinosaur, btw.)

winnie · 20/02/2007 14:10

I shall be glad to get back to work tomorrow & regain some routine in my life. I've already had a large Brownie today

Having done this boot camp for 6 previous weeks lost a stone, had glowing skin and more energy... I've had a bad, bad week and a bit really and the skin is bad, the energy levels zilch and I appear to have a wheat/sugar (can't decide which) intolerance which cleared up in the last 6 weeks when bread/sugar etc was reduced radically.

There will be pancakes in this house at tea time and tonight I am eating with (d)h and we shall be having a glass of wine but as we are on the verge of getting back together I am not going to deny myself. (I will need a drink to steady my nerves )

Am off now to Liz Earle website as I've run out of everything!

Monkeytrousers · 20/02/2007 18:03

Had quite a large pasta lunch with tons of roasted veggies. A cheese sarnie for tea but without butter.

Did half an hour on my runner. Remembering to keep my tum tucked in.

WideWebWitch · 20/02/2007 19:32

Monkeytrousers, well done on the runner and vegetables, that's v good

Winnie, Me TOO - My skin is TERRIBLE today and I'm sure it's down to a) wine b) not enough sleep on my week off c) eating lots of butter which always brings my skin out in a rash, I should know better by now d) not enough water e) not enough water f) minor stress of going back to work and millions of emails/meetings etc so a lot of it is not doing this. I feel sluggish and bloated and absolutely vile. But onwards.

I hope it goes well with your dh tonight, def consider yourself let off on the wine front

Well done Dino, excellent. This will be my first night without wine in AGES due to being on holiday, eeek. It's so easy to get into the habit of doing it and then I have to get into the habit of not doing it all over again. Although there is cold wine and an open bottle of red and I am v tempted, dd has just screamed and screamed while dh bathed her, I think being back at nursery today wore her out. Welcome back, lots of us felt a lot better by the end of 6 weeks last time.

Jeangenie, half a stone, pah! Easy peasy lemon squeezy, welcome!

Marina, ha ha at I am not bionic! But well done on the walking and the 5k, good, good.

Swedishmum, goodness me at your fil, he sounds a charmer. So again, you are excused on the wine.

And Arfy, well, what can I say, goji berries, marvellous. Now, you MUST exfoliate THOROUGHLY first and then moiturise properly and then be VERY sparing on elbows, knees and ankles. In fact, smooth it on, rub in VERY well on those areas. And remember to wash your hands immediately and to cover backs of hands. Let us know how it goes.

Me:

Granola
apple
thai chicken curry (350 cal)
Superfoods Innocent Smoothie (150 odd cal)
apple
sliver smoked salmon
a couple of walnuts, brazils and dried cranberries
and about to eat M&S Cook chicken breast, 400 cal and spinach, peas and asparagus
Walked 30 mins AFTER work
Have raging PMT and want to kill someone. DH, ex dh (who is here and has a loud voice - he's not doing it to irritate me but it is) Fk it, may have some wine with Desp Housewives and Battlestar Galactica later. We'll see whether I hold out or not. Right now I want to down some but hey, that's not a good reaction to stress, I know

Winnie - hope you have a lovely night.

Have had a good day and will be in bed early with my book having had a lovely soak with smellies (how good it is to be able to smell again!). May do the scrub and moisturise too.

Feeling very positive although am out with a friend tomorrow night and really don't want to drink. Probably be eating out too but will choose healthily.

Monkeytrousers · 20/02/2007 23:28

oh I get a silver star!

winnie · 21/02/2007 09:06

I feel rotten today My body really doesn't like alcohol, sugar & wheat or the general abuse it has suffered after six weeks of being good.

I am back at work today and back into this regime. I have six weeks before we all go away for a long weekend at Easter and I want to feel my best Had a good evening with (d)h Now to deal with dd...

Has anyone given anything up for Lent?
I am giving up chocolate. Not very original but good for me nevertheless.

Marina · 21/02/2007 10:19

I am giving up chocolate too Winnie
Managed another 5km on my bike last night, Special K for breakfast (it's like guinea-pig food though, yeuch) 2 litres of water to hand, and a brisk 20 minute walk from the train to my evil empire.
Am also sanded, moisturised and screened.
And have joined WW Online - I really need to

puddle · 21/02/2007 10:23

I'm back to join you all. Have rejoined ww too as I have somehow managed to put on
a stone and my clothes are all tight (and some unwearable).

Marina are you on core plan or points? I did points last year and lost a stone -ish in weight - am on the core plan this time as I think I got a bit obsessive about counting. Am really missing bread but have been doing it properly for three days and I can see already my stomach is smaller.

Have had porridge for breakfast, have already drunk a litre of water and am armed with fruit and a thermos of leek, chickpea and potato soup to see me through the day.

puddle · 21/02/2007 10:25

Oh, and my real improvement so far this week has been to get my feet done at the chiropodist and am manically applying flexitol. They were VILE.

yoyo · 21/02/2007 10:44

Had a really good day yesterday and aiming for the same today even at the risk of appearing raelly antisocial when I meet up with a friend this evening.

I keep toying with the idea of WW but cannot bring myself to buy loads of low fat/half fat/virtually fat free foods. The recipes always look very appetising and I suppose I could work out what the points would be if I used the real stuff, e.g. olve oil instead of the spray stuff. Do you find it fits in well with family meals?

Work to do. Water to drink. Nursery run fast approaching.

Keep up the good work today everyone.

puddle · 21/02/2007 11:05

Yoyo I am on ww core plan which means you can eat as much as you like of the core foods, then you have extra points for other things. So, for instance last night I had lentil moussaka which was mostly core ingredients and then I added on a point for the ricotta cheese topping.

I have to change my eating habits a bit but for me it's mostly ditching bread, cutting down massively on wine and no sweet things. The rest is just slightly adapting things we eat anyway.

Marina · 21/02/2007 11:05

Points puddle. And this time I need to stick to it.
Am assuming your trotters were vile, not the chiropodist

Marina · 21/02/2007 11:06

But x-posting with you is making me wonder if I've made the right choice realistically speaking

puddle · 21/02/2007 11:07

I just found it depressing Marina adding up points for things like apples and satsumas.

puddle · 21/02/2007 11:08

And yes it was the trotters. the chiropodist was lovely (but all chiropodists must be odd to choose to handle feet at their very worst all day)

Mumbojumbo · 21/02/2007 11:17

Can I join in please?

Need some motivation at the moment. Lost 3 stone with Slimming World and have just signed up for Race for Life in June. In danger of falling off wagon spectacularly if there are too many temptations around! Still need to decide what I'm giving up for Lent......maybe shouting at the boys! Look forward to feeling and looking younger over the weeks.
Just off to collect ds2 from nursery (walking ) and then off to Body Pump later.

Will enjoy this thread!
