I been using Corn Silk loose powder for years, love it, bought some in July for about £7, go to buy more today and it's gone up to £20!!! Anyone else use it and having trouble buying it at a sensible price??

There's some on eBay for a tenner.

It's saying it's discontinued!

mowglik · 16/12/2016 11:29

For a high st alternative Rimmel loose powder is great, and so is collection 2000 loose powder - worth trying these two options as they are so cheap anyway..

No, the corner silk is being discontinued that's why it's doubled in price.

Wasn't there a story recently about Corn Silk sales going through the roof because it makes your skin look fab in selfies?

Sunnyfeet · 16/12/2016 13:03

I'll definitely be trying the Rimmel and Collection 2000 suggestions - and I just ordered a sample size of this:

I ordered the flawless silk shade. I will report back.

Sunnyfeet · 16/12/2016 13:06

Has anyone tried this?

I have a similar COTY Airspun powder and there's a definite perfumey smell about it that reminds me of my Nan. Worth checking before you buy it as an alternative if you think that would bother you.

nothingwittyhere · 16/12/2016 13:34

The Coty scores very highly on MakeUpAlley

How annoying!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/12/2016 14:04

I've just had a quick Google and people are using actual corn silk ,the stuff you buy at Holland and Barrett just dip in a powder brush and Bob's your uncle!

Beautifullymixed · 16/12/2016 19:28

The rimmel stay matte powder is well known for its cakey/chalky look.
You might like it though.

I have coty airspun, it's fab, and I love the smell. It makes my brushes smell great too!
I also like this powder too.

Doorbird · 12/01/2017 00:18

Been using cornsilk for years and as getting to the bottom of my current one was mortified to see it has tripled if not more in price.
Searching the net I now find it has been discontinued, I cannot believe such a popular product has been taken off the shelves.
Has anybody found an alternative that is as good ?

Beautifullymixed · 12/01/2017 03:48

I've now stopped using coty airspun, as it made me look too cakey when my oils stared coming through in the day Shock.
It seemed to mix with my foundation in nose creases etc.
I have now been using innisfree no sebum powder since Christmas, which is a silica and cornstarch based Korean mineral loose powder.
It keeps my t - zone matte, although I'm careful not to apply it too thickly, as a little really does go a long way. There is no white cast on me, which is great as I'm medium brown colour, and pressed into my skin with the velour puff included, then the excess powder dusted off, seems to leave it looking quite impressive. It's talc free as well, so although matte, doesn't dry it out either.
A very small tub though - my only gripe.

ChishandFips33 · 12/01/2017 05:02

Id forgotten all about Cornsilk - used it in my teens because it was cheap!

DM celebrated it back in 2014
Looks like the price has never really changed since

We need a campaign!

shinynewusername · 12/01/2017 06:57

I've got to say I find Rimmel Stay Matte rubbish, and I don't even have particularly oily skin.

UncomfortableBadger · 12/01/2017 07:19

Try Coty Airspun powder - old fashioned packaging but brilliant Smile

There are two types: extra coverage and normal

merpug · 14/03/2017 12:14

Hi, a tentative posting from a bloke, my partner is running out of Corn Silk and expressed the same horror at the price increase. Being a bit of a geek, I hunted around and found this thread from the States from a few years ago:

The Sally Hansen product is out there, at sensible money:

I was advised to use Cornsilk by a photographer back in 1986 as most models used it back then... I have continued to love it and now
my teenage girls use it... until now that is for all the previous reasons in your comnents. However Coty also make COTY AIRSPUN which is around £13 on Amazon. This large pot of pretty smelling loose powder is for all skin tones. It does have a powder puff in the lid BUT I suggest you apply with a brush... other than that its a good substitute. I use over moisturiser or to finish my foundation x Hope this helps x

Mango18 · 17/04/2019 20:25

I used to use corn silk for years and thought I'd check it out again. The cost!! £69.99 now. Crazy, how is this justified?!!

PinkieTuscadero · 17/04/2019 20:39

Well I assume if people are asking that kind of price on ebay that means it's not being made anymore.

LisaLouise73 · 28/10/2019 21:06

It’s definitely been discontinued since 2008. Sally Hansen bought the Corn Silk range but I don’t even know if she still makes the stuff.
I used to use Corn Silk Loose Powder in semi-Matt for years, it was the only powder that used to even my skin tone and not “cake” or cause me irritation. I’m still gutted that I can’t get hold of it at a reasonable price so I don’t wear any powder now and I hate it! I looked just now and there are a couple on eBay for around £80. That is just taking the p!$$ quite frankly. 😠

Why can’t someone make it again? It was obviously an extremely popular product! Makes no sense at all 🤷🏼‍♀️
