Dry knotty hair, any advice

My d recently got balyage I think its called, basically blonde highlights and then the ends dyed blonde all across. Original colour is dark brown. Anyway hair was stunning first day, she loved it, but ever since, every time she washes it, after using shampoo and cond, then towel dry, it is a mass of knots and takes forever to untangle. I know first world problem, but any product advice? Is blonde dyed hair especially dry?

Yes using bleach on your hair roughs up the hair cuticle, leaving hair damaged and easy to tangle.

It needs a lot of extra care. I would suggest using a deep conditioning hair mask twice a week. Those containing Argan oil or Moroccan oil are brilliant. You can also buy small tubes of after care conditioner for blonde hair by Nice and Easy. I would recommend squeezing out excess water after washing and then gently combing through conditioner with a wide tooth comb. Leave to soak into hair for five minutes.

Avoid towel drying or rubbing the hair. She can stick wet hair in a towel turban and then gently squeeze with the towel and pat dry.

Because your dd started with dark hair, a strong concentration of bleach would have been used to lift the colour out. This has damaged the ends so a trim wouldn't go amiss and I wouldn't recommend repeated bleaching.

Sorry if all that sounds like a lecture Grin. I have been (unnaturally) blonde for years and love it but it's hard maintenance and needs a lot of extra care (and ridiculous amounts of expensive conditioner!)

Jojoba oil. Totally saturate her hair with it, wrap in cling film and leave for several hours or overnight and then shampoo out. Do that once a week. Add a few drops to her regular conditioner too. It's great stuff.

okay thanks so much, will try both options, I have used hundreds of chemist hair dyes and a few at hairdressers but never blonde myself, so didn't realise how much more maintenance is required with blonde :-) thanks for the suggestions, she'll be delighted!
