Nude bra under this dress

Panic stations!! Christmas party is a Friday night and I've got very little to fit me. Code is 'smart casual'. I have this dress from Zara m.zara.com/ie/en/woman/dresses/lace-dress-c269185p3702142.html Hope that link works! Anyway my question is, do you think a nude coloured bra will look ok underneath it? Looking in the mirror it seems ok but my lighting probably isn't the best! It's a not very sexy looking M &S bra

Would a black bra look ok, or would that be tarty?

LardLizard · 13/12/2016 23:08

Think you really need a strapless bra really or at very least one with see through straps
Nude will show

If my link to the dress is correct, a black bra is essential!

MixedUpConfusion · 13/12/2016 23:31

Disappointed I seem to be the only one that can't see the dress! Takes me to a select language page

desperatehousewife2 · 14/12/2016 03:29

MixedConfusuob try going past that page. It's a. Lack dress with lace at the top.

I tried a black bra but that looked really awful especially at the back where the dress is quite low. Back to the drawing board so I guess. Sad

Depending how much support you need, whizz it to your local clothes alteration place with an old black bra and get them to sew the bra cups into the front of the dress. Doesn't take long and removes need for bra entirely. Voila.

Alternatively, black strapless with a pretty and thin back strap. Really don't think you can do nude.

desperatehousewife2 · 14/12/2016 20:40

Update: although I think the nude looks ok in the mirror and you can't really see it under the dress, I know I would feel so uncomfortable and unconfifent wearing it.

So I popped into Dorothy Perkins on the way home (1 of about 3 ships available to me on my commute home) and picked up a nice stretch pair of black skinnier with tiny gold flecks. Will wear with gold glittery heels, a Zara white shirt (or else my sister in law will lend a top) and a black tuxedo jacket and glam up with jewellery. I've put on some weight in the last couple of years and I actually this silhouette looks quite good despite having big hips and thighs. So thanks for all the advice, think those of you who said it wouldn't work were right! I feel quite good in this outfit Smile

Unless no bra would be a wobbly disaster, nude cups will look like you are trying to hide your shape. A strapless bra with clear straps is like being sellotaped in, you won't last the evening.

Match the outfit with a lacy plunge bra in black. I get far more attention when my bra straps are visible under my top!

desperatehousewife2 · 14/12/2016 22:17

No bra definitely not an option! Also no chance of getting a bra with any sort of clear strap or anything before Friday and also no way I can get to my clothes alteration lady nor would she get anything done to it by then. Happy with my Outfit now though. I think.
