Has anyone any experience of eyebrow tattoos?

I have alopecia, and my eyebrows are all but gone. I was thinking about getting an eyebrow tattoo and wondered if anyone had done this and how it worked out. I'm worried about looking too done and that they'll be too dark. And I'm also worried that it will hurt.
Finally, I'd love a recommendation.
All comments/ advice gratefully received.
Cheers!

I have mine done.

They aren't too dark, if you got to a reputable professional they'll colour choose you perfectly. It hurts a little, but that's expected!

Once you've had your first session they'll heal for 4-6 weeks and then you'll go back for a top up (usually included in the price) if they're not dark enough, just tell the tattooist and they'll do them darker.

Had mine done too. Research the crap out of the person doing it - look at all the ones they've done before to make sure they're great at it before booking in with them. You need a top up every year or 18 months as it's not a permanent tattoo and does fade, but if done well they look great.

i've never seen any that look natural - that said, if you have none and are conscious of it then make sure you get decent ones.

Thanks all. Did you have yours done in London, and if so, would you recommend your tattooist?

I have a thyroid condition, which results in bouts of hair loss, and I go to Browhaus in NYC. They do a fantastic job, giving very natural results. I believe there is a branch in London.

I've seen quite a few folk with this done. Some are excellent and you would never know. Some not so good. I think you've never seen a good job hoddtastic because only the bad ones are noticeable.

If you go somewhere good I think it's an excellent option.

I've had mine done a number of times. The secret is to go to a Semi permanent make-up artist (rather than an actual tattoist) as the clolours they use are more natural and fade naturally too. They will also take a lot of time drawing in the perfect shape for you before actually starting them.

Some people actually use a sort of stencil which is why so many girls seem to have what I call 'pirate' eyebrows, heavy and dark and not necessarily suiting their face.
It does hurt, but its only an hour or so every 18 - 24 months and to me was like having a face lift first time I had them done.

Sparkes, you have beautiful eyes

I had mine done. The first was by the lady who waxes my eyebrows - I had a false sense of confidence in her as I'd been having my eyebrows waxed for a while by her but she didn't know what she was doing and it was a disaster! They looked absolutely fucking awful and not at all what I wanted. Like someone had drawn on my face with a big black marker.

I had to get them corrected by someone who then did a brilliant job of redoing them.

It was very stressful at the time but I'm happy with them now.

Rule of thumb: Research fully, look at pictures of their previous work and be prepared to pay around £400 -500 if they charge less than this it's not a good sign.

My colleague has them and until she told me recently I had no idea. They looked like well groomed natural brows.
