Block heels a must for this dress?

I have just found out that I do need to go to DH's Christmas do this weekend. Had tried on this dress for this very eventuality and it suits me but I am not sure about shoes - I have always worn higher heels as formal shoes and wonder if I can get by with the block heels for a formalish dinner and party-into-the-wee-hours?

The invites say black tie but having been at this party a few times in the past, this is fine as dresses go.

But I think the block heel makes it too casual? And the dress is blue would you wear those black court shoes?

What shoes would be ok? I have big feet (size 8)!

I'm 5' 7" and wear a size 10 in this dress and it hits me about the same on the leg as in the picture.

PS I'm not a fashionista so don't own block heeled shoes maybe that's why they seem not very formal to me. Hence me asking.

Thank you!

How about a silver block heel? I think they would work well with the style of dress.

Carvela

How about a wedge sandal?

Blocks heels seem very clumpy to me. I would wear that with a stiletto

Thanks I really like those silver ones. I am unsure of the block heel but am going to give it a try. I hadn't thought of silver. I have a silver clutch already. I will order those and if they don't work out I have some silver peep toe high heels that I can wear (probably not fashionable but they fit and don't hurt) as an alternative.

I can't last all night in stilettos as I rarely ever wear them and I can't take them off at this party.

I love those ASOS heels more than the Carvela ones but since I'm a size 8 shoe, pointy toes make me look like I'm wearing skis (or at least I feel self-conscious in them anyway).

The rounded toe just is best for smaller foot look (or not humongous foot look anyway) on the block heel Carvela. I hate having big feet.

Thanks for the thumbs up on the dress!
