Stylish mumsnetters please help!

My work Xmas do is on Friday evening. I am new to the office and have never been to the venue so I have no idea what type of place it is. I am also the most unstylish person ever, have very few clothes, am overweight (a very recent thing due to medication side effects) and have little money! I have no idea what to wear - I need something that will fit in whatever the venue and suit my fat figure. Any suggestions?!?!

Black dress, black tights and sparkly accessories! Can you ask others what they are wearing?

I like the idea of a black dress, any suggestions of where I could get one cheapish that goes up to a size 20?

Asos, their Curve dress selection are actually pretty nice I just wore this to my works do and got a handful of compliments and felt really nice in it. Wore with thin black belt, opique tights and black booty/shoe things.

I'm massive new look fan! They do a lovely curves range. Lots of choice.

Sainsburys had some nice black glittery dresses in. You would just need some sparkly earrings.
