Christmas Day with family, everyone normally dresses up a bit. Pregnant so limited choice of outfits and I've settled on this rather boring black dress:

What can I do to make it more festive?

Red lippy and big statement necklace.

I've always struggled with lippy - normal lipstick disappears in 5 mins, long lasting formulas make my lips dry and cracked. Would love to know the secret!

Necklace of course - any ideas?

And what should I do about tights? Black opaques or something a bit brighter?

You could absolutely go for lovely coloured tights. Some nice burgundy ones in m&s and new look.

What about a necklace like this? m.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/black-tear-collar-necklace-5925869

Not keen on necklaces over fabric...or burgundy tights...it's a nice dress though. I would just add black opaque tights, large hoop/drop earrings and good makeup. If you find bright lipstick drying try sticking some lip balm on top. I think dressy makeup/hair is all you need really xx

I've got a sparkly silver sequin scarf from when they were trendy about 10 years ago would that work?

I don't wear earrings otherwise I agree fancy earrings would work!
