could anyone give me guidance re. lipstick?

I have very fair skin and light brown hair. I do not wear make up everyday.
My colour of choice used to be a kind of mocha but I do not think it suits me anymore - I think it somehow highlights the bags under my eyes!
Anyway - can someone recommend colours for my type?

Try to swatch MACs velvet teddy, yash, mehr or urban decay back chat.. Also you didnt mention what kind of finish you prefered with your lipsticks.

Mocha can be a hard colour to pull off, why don't you go to No7 and get lipstick matched so you've got a rough idea of what suits you and go from there.

I'm really pale skinned too (neutral/cool undertones) and when I was younger I wore a lot of 1990s browns. When I hit 30 I felt that they no longer looked great on me. My best tones are rosy pinks, mauve pinks, reds with pink undertones, and bluish bright reds. My favorite lipstick store is Kiko - budget prices, high quality and lots of different finishes.

This blogger tends to pick lipstick shades that are also my favorites.

My DD has similar hair colour to you and a light/yellow toned skin.

When she said she wanted Mac Velvet Teddy , I got her a Rimmel dupe (I can't remember which but it was online - search the lipstick/dupe)

And she has Urban Decay Backchat - she likes nudes varying from beigey to pinky.

Do you use a concealer? If you have more of a blank canvas then you'll be looking at the lip colour more than scrutinising yourself for the faults.

What colour are your eyes?

(BTW , I don't wear lipstick, I have a really small thin mouth and nothing will improve on that )

Agree with poster re celeb teddy and mehr but better if you can sneak five minutes with a professional - if you've got a local Mac counter would definitely recommend as I believe they are all trained make up artists

I definitely wearing more pink than when I was younger. I wear a lot of neutrals like Clinique chubby sticks in bountiful blush and curviest caramel which I can wear with minimal make up.

I bought a cllinque pop glaze (sheer) in sprinkle pop which is a proper pink and looks great but I need to have make up on to pull it off.

For Christmas I plan to get Chanel rouge coco in mademoiselle, it looks wearable without being completely boring.

Thanks everyone!
I feel a bit stupid as I understand half of the things you are saying!
What is a Rimmel dupe? Blush

I will try beigeys but I do not like pinks

70isaLimitNotaTarget I have green eyes

Do you have an iPhone at all? Urban Decay have an app for their lipsticks, download it, take a selfie - then you can swipe through all their colours and get an idea of what suits you.
You might be really surprised....I was! Discovered that quite bright pink (that I wouldn't have touched with a ten foot pole) really suits me. Smile

don't have an iPhone fabellini but I'll see if I can borrow one! Wink
