Eyeliner - how??

I am fairly new to wearing make up, but can do a decent job. With a pencil I can line my upper lid fairly well but cannot for the life of me line the bottom one - I flinch every time I bring the pencil close.

I've also got a pen type liner which is a disaster when I attempt it on my upper lid, never mind the lower one.

I'm just rubbish at eyeliner basically. Help, please? :)

No help, but I never wear eyeliner on the bottom - I think it closes up your eye (if that makes sense, like makes it seem smaller). Re the top, do you want to do a cat eye flick with the liquid one?

Lining the bottom lashes can make your eyes look much smaller - I wouldn't.

For liquid liner on the top eye, I would go for a gel and brush rather than a true liquid as it's a good next step from pencil. To start with, if you really struggle, why not do the pencil line first then go over it with the gel liner until you get the hang of it?

Oh I think I have quite small, round eyes so maybe I should leave the bottom. Yes, want to do a nice flick, will try the gel and brush method and maybe go over a pencil line.

Or the pen eyeliners are easier than the tiny brush ones. Basically practice makes perfect though and don't try to do too thin a line / flick as that shows the wobbles.

I never wear it on the bottom as it always smudges and I end up looking like a clown. I wear it every day on the top - I use a smudgy kohl liner and apply with very short strokes, not one big sweep, then I use an ear bud and soften the line, so it's not too 'hard'.

I wear it top and bottom but not on my inner eye. I think eyeliner makes your eyes bigger if you dont line the bottom rim. Just line it underneath. Personally i wear lenses and cant do the bottom rim of the eye as I fear it would irritate my eye with my lenses.

I wear eyeliner but I use a brow brush & dark brown eyeshadow on my bottom lashes, makes it look smokey and not harsh like a pencil.

But how do you not flinch when you do the bottom lid??

I also blame some of my make up failures on being left handed :)

Try watching a few YouTube tutorials?

YouTube is your saviour when learning to do eyeliner of any sort, and practise over and over and over til it's flawless.

I never line under my eyes as I've got a bit of crepey-stuff going on and it accentuates it.

Ok, had another go with my eyeliner pen on the top lid, using smaller strokes and doing a thicker line and love how that looks.

I'm going to ignore the bottom as I like the look I get when I just do the top.

no! it looks disgusting.

Yeah, tightlining is a no go - as mentioned before I finch trying to line my bottom lids so going inside isn't gonna happen! 😀
