Daily foundation

I don't usually wear makeup (too lazy rushed in the mornings!) but at 42 I'm beginning to feel like it wouldn't hurt (particularly when, like last night, one of the dc is ill and has me up all night) to have a light foundation that I could wear just to give my tired skin a little consistency.
I've got a couple of heavier foundations for going out (Bobby Brown and Younique) but I'd really like something I don't have to wear anything else with - I suppose almost like a tinted moisturiser would do. Maybe that's what I need?
Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks Smile

Personally I love Clinique CC cream. If I had skin good enough to gone without foundation until age 42 though I'm not sure I'd want to start now!

Maybe try The Body Shop vitamin c skin glow stuff? Saw it online the other looks good.

Have you tried Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Glow foundation? I have just bought a bottle of her heavier foundation (been a Laura Mercier wearer for 10 years) and love it - the Magic Glow is apparently the light foundation these days! Maybe get a sample? She is now at John Lewis.

L'oreal true match is a lovely wearable foundation that is £9.99 but often on 3 for 2 in Superdrug.

I've only recently started wearing makeup (at 37). I use Bobbi Brown BB cream, which is a bit more than tinted moisturiser, but lighter than foundation. At the weekends I wear Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. They are both enough to make my skin look a bit less tired/dull.

Thanks for those suggestions - I will have a ferret around and try and grab a couple of samples to see what works best.
Felicia thanks but I don't know if it's good skin or it's just that's what you get used to looking at. My younger sister wouldn't dream of leaving the house without make-up on and she says it's because she looks awful without it. I can honestly say she's talking crap but she's just not used to seeing her face au naturel so, to her, she needs the make-up.

I've tried loads over the years. Nothing was ever right and I ended up with dry skin yet prone to breakouts. Realised my skin doesn't like foundation. Got a sample of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser about two years ago and it's perfect for me. I ran out about a month ago and as it's quite ££ I wanted to try and hold off buying more. Used something else and my skin went to shit again quickly. Back to Laura Mercier this week and all is well again. It's the only expensive product I buy but it is worth it.

For Day wear I like Clinique CC cream, it's thicker than a tinted moisturizer but not as heavy as foundation. It's lovely and creamy and feels like it's really soothing your skin.

Needastrongone · 10/12/2016 07:56

OP do you mind if I watch with interest, as I am 45 this next year and in the same boat!

Bourgeois BB (or is it CC?) cream. Cheap, cheerful and surprisingly effective for that "Me but on a good day" look

SaladDressing · 10/12/2016 10:39

I like the Bobbi Brown even wear compact foundation for day time. It's light and dries to a nice matte finish.

BusterGonad · 10/12/2016 11:10

I think Bourjois is a CC and they also do a foundation called City Radiance which I've not tried but has rave reviews.

Need watch away!

Thanks all, great suggestions. I know what I'm going to be doing on Monday morning!

Slug 'me but on a good day' is exactly what I'm looking for!

I would suggest tinted moisturisers. Nars or laura mercier..
