Cool Toned / Winters : Does navy work for you?

It's fine on me, but I don't think it's as flattering as bluish pink?

Is it the same with you?

Yes but only very dark navy

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/12/2016 19:41

Yes, love navy.

Yes!! That's what I noticed too. If it's really navy - like more blue than black, it's just ok.

I think the problem with navy for winters is that it needs to be a strong clear navy. Lots of navies are too soft and not strong and clear enough. Soft navy will be ok but better on summers.
I know this sounds a bit silly as navy is navy but I dont think it is!

Mamia15 · 09/12/2016 22:22

It has to be a dark navy not bright navy or french navy.

WritersBlockk · 09/12/2016 23:30

What colouring does a cool toned winter have? I think I am one but not sure.

Mamia15 · 10/12/2016 07:59

Winters look best in blue based colours that are intense and bold - e.g. Silver, charcoal grey, emerald, cobalt, scarlet, royal purple, fuchsia etc. Their colouring tends to be full of contrasts e.g. Pale skin, bright eyes etc.

Summers are also cool toned but best in muted shades of blue based colours such as soft greys/pinks/blues etc. Their colouring is more muted.

Stokey · 10/12/2016 09:47

It's OK but cobalt is far better

RaisingSteam · 10/12/2016 10:00

OK but it needs a contrast - white, fuchsia, red, emerald green etc else it just looks terribly dull. Winters also need a contrasting look. I have a couple of bright fushcia/raspberry pink scarfs I wear when I've drifted into grey jumper/navy jeans dullsville, they make an unbelievable difference.

Navy is a neutral so could look dull on its own.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/12/2016 10:01

No. Hate it. Unless v v dark and worn with black.

Mamia15 · 10/12/2016 10:24

Yes neutral outfits are best left to summers. Winters need contrast in their outfits, even if its just a brightly coloured handbag or lipstick/nail polish.

Floisme · 10/12/2016 10:29

I've no idea what season I am but I'm very fussy about navy. I think it comes in lots of different shades and only a few of them suit me.

madmomma · 10/12/2016 10:32

I'm a summer and navy looks shocking on me.

queencerulean · 10/12/2016 11:17

I adore navy, especially a really dark one. Looks better on me than black. I can also wear a brighter navy but I'm a sprinter winter so more neutral than cool toned.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 10/12/2016 19:57

Yes, it works for me. I also love very dark navy with black. It's one of my favourite combinations.
