Growing up my wardrobe

It seems I have abruptly hit the point in my life where I have acknowledged that I am a proper grownup, and my clothes should probably reflect that. In the past, I've shopped at a wide range of high street places with a sprinkling of Asos, but I've come to feel that I would rather buy fewer, nicer things, preferably in natural fabrics, that are well-cut, hold their shape, and last.

Can people give me some places/retailers I need to start shopping in? I like to nod to fashion/incorporate some trends, but I'm over really adapting to it. I've fallen in love with Boden quality lately - Reiss is a little out of my budget, and I'd describe my style as 'classic with a twist' eg I have a fab Mint Velvet collarless jacket with zip details that edges it up a bit. I need smart clothes for work and flattering but reasonably comfy and machine washable stuff for weekends with DC. I'm checking out Cos also. Hobbs is a bit too stodgy for me.

Vital stats wise I'm early 30s and a petite, hourglassy size 8-10. Hit me.

I'm the same as you but 42. I don't work so only need casual clothes but I wear skinny dark jeans with a smart jumpers so Chelsea boots most days . Get yourself a good coat as that pulls an outfit together . I have parkas for day to day. Topshop have some nice stylish wool coats in petite for around £60 .. I'll find the linky .. my correct Chelsea boots are from superdry and look great with jeans

Thanks, that's nice! I'll check out the Chelsea boots too. I'm living in boots at the moment, including for work.

Am contemplating ordering something from Finery but the quality doesn't look very high in pics.

Shamelessly bumping. Anyone reading who can give me an opinion on the quality of Finery stuff? Hankering after some of their trousers a bit.
