Help with jazzing up this dress

Am looking for some help to jazz up this dress. I have a plain navy ruched dress with vest type straps. Looks very good on but its a bit summery with the straps, and plain. I don't have the money to splash out on a new party dress and have a few things coming up where I need to dress up. What can I do with this? Also would like to cover my shoulders if I can. Also what colour tights? Black? Nude? I have black heels.

By the time you've bought accessories you can buy a new dress

CakeInMyFace · 09/12/2016 06:54

Umm not really DrScholl. I have plenty of jewellery and can't afford £50 plus for a decent occassion dress.

That looks a bit like a beach dress-I can't imagine it as an evening out dress! It looks like it's a faded jersey fabric?

I suppose you could try a bolero and nude heels and a sparkly necklace?

Bluntness100 · 09/12/2016 09:13

I think it's really nice actually, I don't think it looks like a faded beach dress at all? 🙄

I'd wear strappy sandals, and bare legs, or I'd wear nude heels and tights, a navy pashmina or a pale silvery grey one would go nice.

I'm no fan of big jewellery though, but a long silver necklace might work and a nice bangle.

I have exactly the same dress in green and I disagree with other posters - its not a beach dress...

I would go with nude tights, do you have any other colour shoes?

I generally dress mine up with a longer pendant necklace, something like this: www.asos.com/made/made-fine-casted-pendant-necklace/prd/7360583?iid=7360583&clr=Gold&cid=4175&pgesize=204&pge=0&totalstyles=579&gridsize=3&gridrow=44&gridcolumn=1

its quite busty on me, so I like to lower the eye line as it were.

Boleros are really not a good look in my opinion. how about a jacket? or even a scarf as a wrap?

BumbleNova · 09/12/2016 09:33

also could you stretch to some cheapish glittery heels?

www.asos.com/asos/asos-sundance-glitter-heels/prd/7109213?iid=7109213&clr=Glitter&SearchQuery=glitter%20heels&pgesize=36&pge=0&totalstyles=58&gridsize=3&gridrow=3&gridcolumn=3

new look also have some bargains. I think it takes the outfit up a level in terms of being dressed up.

CakeInMyFace · 09/12/2016 09:43

Thanks some good ideas here. Ill nip in new look as some glittery heels might be the answer. Its definitely not faded and not a beach dress its very thick jersey. It really shows my figure nicely and its my best option for dressing up. My other dresses are way too casual!
