Flattering plus size winter coat

Am aware that I'm possibly searching for the holy grail...!

Am a size 18/20, 5ft 10, wide of hip and big of nork with narrow shoulders. Very pale skinned with auburn hair.

I work in a client-facing role and need a fabulous winter coat for racing between client meetings in both the city and the country. In my head I'm imagining a long, swishy number which is cut beautifully. I have a penchant for fabulous enormous (faux) fur collars Grin

I've already done the High Street circuit and no luck Sad All the belted coats I've found look like dressing gowns on me!

Any suggestions, oh wise women of S&B?

I found my coat on eBay. The high St is awful for coats this year

Mooey89 · 08/12/2016 18:31

No but I'm looking for the same so pitching up!

Manumission · 08/12/2016 18:36

Your NN has contaminated my head with images of black and white stripes Smile

Will have a think. Laura Ashley used to do marvellous riding coats with the right kind of cut. Did versions for years then just stopped Angry

What's your budget?

UncomfortableBadger · 08/12/2016 18:40

A riding coat is exactly the image I was conjuring up! Smile Just a shame that there's nothing like that in the shops at the moment.

Have now realised that my original budget of £120ish isn't going to get me very far - maybe up to £300 if it was absolutely perfect?

what about this? pricey but will last you years, this much better value, but a bit short?, or this? military looking good length, nice belt detail on back......

UncomfortableBadger · 08/12/2016 19:21

Oooh, love the Windsmoor coat from JL! And it's crying out for a ridiculous fluffy snood Grin It's in my basket!

The Debenhams military coat looks beautiful in the photos but am anxious about some of the reviews.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

This is available in a 20.

Youremywifenow · 08/12/2016 23:30

I've got a version of this from a few years ago (same shape but round neck) and I really love it. It's really smart and warm. I saw a woman on the tram wearing one and asked her where she got it. I'm an 18 but just had a baby and still look pregnant on top of that and the largest size fits me so will fit you. I also look like I'm wearing a dressing gown in anything belted.
Try one on and see what you think.

I got mine with a 20% off code as well.

that cos model looks like a pilgrim heading for the new world

Oh wow, some fabulous suggestions, thanks chaps.

GULP, I think I may have found a winner! Big thank you to the poster who suggested Laura Ashley - found a wool & cashmere blend flared coat in camel which is much more flattering for my uber pale skin than the black coats I'd found on my travels.

Thanks so much all

I really like the Laura Ashley coat.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 10/12/2016 23:14

I bought one from Marisota last winter and it is everything I wanted. I feel really grown up in it.

The Marisota one is nice. Difficult one though as if it's slightly wrong it's so easy to end up looking like Bernie WintersConfused

Manumission · 11/12/2016 19:17

I'm tempted by that LA one myself now (pale and interesting too). I don't know why I never really thought about camel.

Manumission · 11/12/2016 19:18

For the winter, that is.
