Products for a pixie crop that won't make it go crispy or flat

Hi, I think I'm going to go short again tomorrow.

What products to put in a pixie that won't make it look /go 'crispy'or limp/flat?

Pref budget not blow out prices!

When I had a crop a used styling clay on my hair. I popped a tiny bit in my palm, rubbed together, put head upside down, put through hair then style. I miss having short hair. I had a Winona Ryder crop.

I had a pixie crop cut about 4 weeks ago and I love it!
Admittedly my hair has a gentle natural wave which creates some texture.
I've been using a volumising mousse prior to blow drying and then a tiny amount of texturising product when dry.
