Right I'm totally stuck, got my first work Christmas party since baby coming up - I go back to work on Jan 2nd. Loads of new people in the office, I would like to go back with a bang and be 'Crisp' again for the evening rather than 'Mummy'. The things I've seen in the shops either look really odd, like stuff I used to wear in the 90's, or like the sort of thing I would have loved wearing with my pre-baby figure Sad

I'm short, size 12 with weight on my tummy as well as a section scar so deep you could get lost in it.... pale skinned, small chested, good legs.

What are you all wearing? Inspire me please! I'm desperate! Wine

I am very tempted by the NewLook green velvet jumpsuit mentioned above. I am just wondering if I can qualify as 'petite' at 5' 6''.

I've just bought a crinkly blue jumpsuit from matalan. It's totally not what I would normally wear, but I thought I'd try it and it looks really nice on. I'm a size 12 -14, I bought the 14 as its clingy fabric, but it actually skims beautifully and the block colour is, I think, really flattering. With some spangly shoes it looks really nice on. They had a selection in different colours, I chose the blue as it has a floaty top piece rather than being all one layer if that makes sense. I also have post baby tummy (although my ds is 14months!) and I feel like this is quite flattering. I'll try and post the link!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/12/2016 11:16

Can't do the link direct to this, but it's on the matalan website. Dare I say it, it actually looks better on me than on this picture, it looks a bit 'boyish' on here but in real life it looks quite sophisticated.
One thing I've learned since having 3 giant babies and the subsequent destruction of my body through my hobnob addiction is that I have to try things I wouldn't have before. My go to, fail safes, just don't suit my new shape and I feel like I'm trying to be what I was pre-baby when I should actually embrace what I am now.

This from next. I love the print. They also do it in a more floaty high neck style that is really nice.

Tartle love that. Is it really bodycon as in super tight or does it have a bit of skim to it?

Tempted!

Buttonmoonb4tea · 07/12/2016 16:34

Thenewaverage that jumpsuit is nice. Is it a crinkly material?

GplanAddict · 07/12/2016 16:49

I'm wearing this www.next.co.uk/gl7838s1#l28641

And some black ankle boots. I'm hoping I'll look fun, not mumsy but be comfy too!

George us dresses everyone!!

puglife15 · 07/12/2016 17:41

margarita look on ASOS as they had the non petite version on there.

Tartle · 07/12/2016 17:44

Thanks Thispasedenahomemaker it is relatively bodycon but not super skin tight. Surprisingly flattering actually but I will probably still pull out the Spanx to be on the safe side!

Ponks · 07/12/2016 17:47

Love the Zara tuxedo suit!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/12/2016 18:46

Buttonmoon it's hard to describe- I suppose it's a sort of permanent fine pleat rather than a 'crinkle' as the fabric is soft to touch rather than crisp like some crinkly things can be. They had others that were more sequinned but on a smooth material.

Buttonmoonb4tea · 07/12/2016 19:45

Thanks for that

HammersWidow · 07/12/2016 19:49

French connection dress

margaritasbythesea · 07/12/2016 19:54

Grr. Just went to order wither jumpsuit or tuxedo and they are both out of stock in my size.

RumAppleGinger · 07/12/2016 19:54

I'm going with this. Love a dress with pockets!
Ours kicks off at mid day at quiet a formal hotel setting so it feels a bit strange if you are sitting there in sequins. Also have three hours of work to do before hand and I figured I could dress it down for the office and the dress it up a bit more for the party.

I'm wearing this skirt m.next.co.uk/g6412s4#980948
with this blouse tucked in, m.next.co.uk/gl71824s9

Bolshybookworm · 07/12/2016 20:26

I wore this dress with black tights and glittery platforms.

m.next.co.uk/g93286s5#756230

It stretchy and flattering if you have a small bust. Not always a big next fan but they've got some ok stuff in right now.

Ilovetorrentialrain · 07/12/2016 20:58

Tartle wow that is indeed a gorgeous print.
