My very lovely but apparantly also very fragile vintage cocktail dress in unravelling. Aargh!

Try Cath Kidston in St Pancras. Sounds like the kind of thing they'd have.

Of course it will be expensive and very twee so maybe see if there's a dry cleaners with in-house mending nearby first?

Most supermarkets have them on the end of an aisle.

Boots the Chemist may have them.

Hotel reception desk might give you one, I've done that before even though I wasn't a guest or anything.

Thank you very much. Kath Kidson sounds likely. While a mending service would do a better job, I would have to be mostly naked while they fixed the problem, because I'm wearing said dress and have no other clothes with me. I fear I have Made A Mistake.

Right! Boots St Pancras it is. The dress is pale pink and gold. It's a seam that's going so if I can manage a needle, pale thread and some privacy I can probably make it most invisible...
