Shoes to go with this skirt

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 02/12/2016 04:49

Just ordered this skirt to wear at work's Christmas dinner next Friday m2.hm.com/m/en_gb/productpage.0449356001.html

Planning a velvet sweatshirt on top and will need some mid to high heels on my feet. All party shoes seem to be of sandal variety or just not very suitable for tights. It's going to be zero degrees outside next Friday and I'm not prepared to risk frostbite so tights or socks are essential. So stylish MNers here's a challenge for you, find me heels that I can wear with tights.
Before anyone recommends them ankle boots won't work as i have large feet and slim ankles and legs, would not look flattering with a midi skirt.

Personally I would go for a low waisted classic pointed stiletto, as long as your tights aren't too thick.

Gorgeous skirt, btw, id look like a sack of tatties in it!

Something like this?

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 02/12/2016 07:32

Thanks WheretheFuck

And low denier tights with them? In black?

(I'm risking sack of potatoes look too, which is why I'm hoping heels will help, never wear them otherwise).

I just bought really nice mid heel leopard print courts from Asda.
They're really nice, comfy to wear and a bargain at £20!!!

Just had a look at Pinterest for inspiration, does anyone honestly walk around with bare legs and sandals in the middle of the winter.

What do they do in Scandinavia when they have parties to go to?

It feels like I'm totally lost in this party wear lark... Grrrrr

Nude stockings, not black.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 03/12/2016 09:06

I like fishnets.

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 03/12/2016 22:44

You could wear a low denier nude with fishnets on top. Warm and nice. As long as your shoes are plain, not patterned.

A nice heel always makes me feel less sack like! Grin

Oh bugger. I missed the last part of your post, about ankle boots!

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 04/12/2016 07:03

Thank you. I'm still looking.

Good tip for layering tights. InTheKitchen I think I can do the low ankle boots that stop at the ankle and these have the the elastic bit but they look a little bit too high for comfort.

Jonsnow what velvet sweatshirt are you wearing with it? I'm looking for one

Beaut skirt by the way, love your style

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 04/12/2016 19:55

Thanks Stripey.

I haven't actually tried them on together yet as the skirt hasn't been delivered yet but the sweatshirt came today and I'm worried it will be too slouchy. Keeping it though as it's the loveliest softest velvet and not cheap and shiney. It's this one from Stories www.stories.com/gb/Ready-to-wear/Tops/Sweatshirts/Velvet_Sweatshirt/114066438-113272511.1
