What shoes with pencil dress?

I have boots, converse or sandals, none of which I can wear with a black frock. It's not a sparkly dress type event but I'd like to look chic rather than my usual lumbering grunge left over very casual.

Bare legs isn't an option so I suppose I need some horrible tights (please advise which ones for which shoes as I am clueless with anything other than jeans).

I was pleased with how it all looked but no pics were taken. Not the greatest evening though as I started to feel ill on the way there and seem to have some vile stomach bug.

I've got a dress exactly like this but I don't recognise the pic so obvs from a different shop . I'm wearing sparkly silver sandals with it to an xmas do . I'll get the link .. I think shoes are too heavy with shoulders out personally .

Ha . I've realised I'm too late . Glad you had fun.. in case anyone is interested I got my dress from Matalan for around £14 !

I didn't want shoes either jessie because of the shoulders and short sleeves but I needed to wear tights so therefore ruled out sandals. I despise tights at the best of times so the thought of tights and sandals made me feel a bit queasy . These shoes are really light and don't cover much foot (and them plus the dress cost less than £35).

Gosh that tacky Essex shoe website is getting an awful lot of recommendations around here lately.
