Glam skirt/top for work Xmas party?

I am unspeakably bored with the dress that I have worn to the office Xmas party every year since heaven knows when. Also it is possible that it doesn't fit me terribly well Blush

Oh and I forgot to say I'm a size 12, (or "ten" as they so sweetly put it in M&S).

(Or "fourteen" as they more dispiritingly put it in Top Shop - but I'm probably boycotting them anyway, because Philip Green is a bastard, and absolutely not because I am no longer a slender teenager target market)

Have a look at Coast skirts (some are reduced to under £100) I often drool over them in the shop but never have an event I could wear one to!

Would you consider second hand ebay Karen Millen. I drool over the pages and pages. I guess though that you can't then try them on.

Oh that's pretty NapQueen. I had a quick dive into New Look the other day but didn't see anything I fancied. Might try another branch. As well as not liking buying online I don't think I have the time, party is next Thursday and has rather crept up on me.

I think I need to go to Coast and try stuff on - I like this one, but it is a lot of money for something so specific - if it were a bit shorter I could wear it to other stuff.

That Asos one is lovely, but I'm only 5'4" - I'd look like I was wearing mummy's clothes for dressing up.

They have the asos one in regular length too. Possibly in petite, but I didn't check.
Cos has one but it's very structured. Might be too voluminous.

Aha! I had an inspiration and raised my wardrobe, looking for
this skirt which has never really inspired me.

But right next to it I found a shiny satin skirt which I knew I wouldn't have a hope of fitting into. But I took it down anyway because what the hell, and what did I find lurking inside? Two large safety pins crudely sizing down the waistband!
Is it perfect? No. Is it 95 quid cheaper than that one from Coast? Why yes, yes it is.

Next step, little black Bardot neck jumper, but I don't mind spending money on one of those because I genuinely will rewear it again and again.

A tulle petticoat under that skirt would just set it off nicely!
What shoes will you wear?

YesThisIsMe · 30/11/2016 21:58

Ooh, a sticky out petticoat! I might even have one already, half way to Narnia. I might stick to the shoes in the photo with black tights - they have silver detail and are nicer than they look in the pic. But I'll keep an eye out for ridiculous party shoes as well.
