I'm looking at getting my partner some Mac makeup products for Christmas, but am a bit clueless as to what to get her, and also are they worth the hype ?

I would recommend the lipsticks and eye liners, plus their eye shadows.

Suggest you take in a photo of your other half to a MAC counter and ask for some advice. They are very helpful!

Some of their products are good, the only problem you might have is picking the right colours. I wouldn't buy foundation or concealer for this reason unless you knew the exact shade. There should be gift sets available which would be easier for you to pick. I tend to wear make up from different brands. You could get her a set of make up brushes but that depends on your budget real techniques aren't expensive but are good. I got charlotte tilbury make up last year which was lovely available in selfridges. Mac eyeshadows used to be the bomb but in my opinion although good are kind of over rated. If you wanted an eyeshadow palette I would go for urban decay naked palette unless she has it.

How about getting her a Mac voucher?

I agree - there are better gifts from other brands. Too much choice with Mac and therefore risk of getting it not quite right. The UD palettes are good, also something like an Hourglass radiance palette would I'm sure go down well.
