Another foundation thread- Best high street foundation for pale skin

Hi,

So I've run out of my absolute favourite foundation, YSL Youth Liberator, serum foundation, but with a £38 price tag and at this time of year, I just can't justify spending this.

I'm looking for a silky foundation, with medium coverage and a dewy finish. I'm pale, but not the most pale. I was a BR20 in the YSL one.

Budget is, ideally, no more than £10, but a little more is ok.

TIA

Hopeful bump.

I'm off to Boots shortly and would really appreciate some recommendations.

I use the Stay Perfect foundation from No7 - I'm quite pale so I use Calico which is perfect for me. They are really helpful and will put that little machine thing on your skin to help pick your colour!

whaaaaat · 28/11/2016 11:21

Thanks, Unoriginal. What kind of finish is it?

Rimmel Match Perfection. One of my favourite ever foundations. I wear True Ivory, I think there are 2 shades lighter than that. Medium coverage, dewy finish. Costs about £8

HighHopes16 · 28/11/2016 12:15

Revlon Colorstay in Ivory

auldfuckingspinster · 28/11/2016 12:30

My pale pal loves bourjois healthy mix serum in 51.

chartreuse · 28/11/2016 12:35

My favourite high street foundation is L'Oréal Lumi Magique

No 7 lift and laminate is great.

Cocolepew · 28/11/2016 12:38

Laminate 😂 Id love that Grin

whaaaaat · 28/11/2016 12:41

Haha dewy and laminated is the finish I like Grin

Max Factor is the only high Street one which is pale enough for me.

VintagePerfumista · 28/11/2016 14:21

If you want silky, then you want Maybelline satin liquid. It beats expensive foundations hands down.

It's bloody lovely, am on 3rd bottle. I always have a posh one on the go (currently Chanel Beiges) but always chop and change them while I stick to the Maybelline.

Papergirl1968 · 28/11/2016 14:41

Gaaaa! Lift and Luminate!
I'm very pale and struggle to find foundations pale enough. I tend to blend them with a bit of moisturiser.

humanfemale · 28/11/2016 16:40

Max Factor in the lightest shade is, far as
I've found, the lightest on the high street. But it oxidises on me after application and goes slightly orange :/

Body Shop sell a white foundation that's designed to lighten other foundations - you just add a few drops till it's the right colour for you.

Its genius, and thanks to the numerous bottles of slightly-too-dark foundation I have in my bathroom cabinet, I'll probably be all set for the next 10 years :/

I was going to mention Revlon Colorstay foundation and someone beat me to it! Ivory is super pale and matches my skin perfectly. They have one for oily/combination skin and one for dry/normal skin.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 29/11/2016 06:42

Another one for bourjois healthy mix serum. I can really tell the difference between most high street formulations compared to high end foundations on my skin but this one is a pretty good stand in when I'm skint.

whaaaaat · 30/11/2016 09:29

Hmm I couldn't really get on with healthy mix. I found it a bit slimey and no lasting power and minimal coverage. Might be just me though, as everyone else seems to love it!

OP posts:
VintagePerfumista · 30/11/2016 09:52

Healthy Mix Serum is slimey. Healthy Mix isn't, but I found it one shade too dark for me.

whaaaaat · 30/11/2016 20:35

Ah ok. I didn't think healthy mix generally was long lasting though. I'm sure I sampled both.

Max Factor Face Finity in Pale Ivory - I always go back to this.

whaaaaat · 01/12/2016 09:58

Pola, is that just for the shade, or finish too?
