skincare and foundation for dry skin?

I'm in desperate need of some new make up, I've got dull and dry skin I sound lovely and would really like a more glowy look.

I know I need to get a good skincare routine in place and possibly a foundation specifically for dry skin!? I just don't know where to start...I have the usual department stores and a middle of the road budget.

Any ideas or pointers?

I am evangelical about Eucerin moisturiser and acid toning (I like REN Clarimatte toner).

Also, Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation is wonderful - light coverage which you can build up, if desired, with a flattering dewy finish.

Hi OP, I am dry and dehydrated too like Difficult. I recommend Caroline Hirons too.

Double cleansing is really important - two cleanses with a warm flannel at the end of the day. The first one removes make up and surface dirt, the second cleans that skin that's underneath. Currently using Pure Hot Cloth Cleanser (from M&S) followed by No7 Cleansing Oil. My skin is in much better condition since I started. Also a big fan of acid toning - I use Nip+Fab Glycolic pads

The best foundation I have used on my skin is Rimmel Match Perfection - lasts well through the day, glowy finish, medium coverage and cheap as chips. Rubbish range of colours. I have recently also discovered Laura Mercier Candleglow foundation through samples and will be treating myself to a bottle very soon! I got along well with MAC Face and Body foundation too - light coverage but you can build to medium

I find my lifestyle impacts massively on the state of my skin, at least as much as any products I use on it. So that means drinking plenty of water, minimal caffeine, alcohol and sugar; as much sleep as possible; plenty of fruit and veg. I find raw carrots, avocados and apples particularly good for making skin look glowy. No smoking obvs
