Would you wear a leather skirt for work?

That's pretty much it to be honest. I bought this pencil skirt from River Island a month or so ago. I've worn it once it twice for nights out but I can't decide if it would be OK for work with maybe tights and a blouse or if it's leatherness makes it too risky?

I work in a school if that makes any difference!

I think if you went the chunky-knit jumper, tights and low-heeled boots look (maybe Chelsea boots, or riding boot style knee highs?) it would work, but a shirt and heels would take it too far into sexy secretary for a school...

In a school? No - bit S&M.
Our deputy head wore one recently and ( speaking as one who wears black jeans and Docs to work) it just looked so unprofessional. She looked as though she'd slept over somewhere and had to come to work in her on the piss clothes from the night before.

I have a skirt like this which I have only worn for nights out. I would love to wear it toned down for day wear or even work but I have no idea what to wear on my feet because I think it would have to be flats but what type?

Yika · 20/11/2016 21:58

I like it and would wear it to the office, toned down with a jumper. If you have any hesitation about wearing it to school, then don't. Better to err on the side of caution.

I wear a shortish a-line one to work in a school. The head teacher wears a black leather pinafore dress to school. Noone bats an eyelid. I think its totally fine.

neveradullmoment99 · 20/11/2016 22:27

Its totally casual in the school I am in though. Short of jeans you can get away with trainers!

I'd say absolutely fine if matched up with the right top and shoes. I'd wear a plain blouse or jumper with it and block heeled courts and probably stick to a looser style top rather than something clingy.

It's a lovely skirt. If you wanted to get more wear out of it I reckon dressing it down with flats and a casual top on a weekend would be fab as well.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 17/09/2018 11:15

I would.

Bluelady · 17/09/2018 13:11

I did. I used to wear mine with a jumper or (untucked) silk shirt, opaques and ankle boots. Nobody ever turned a hair.

Chanelprincess · 17/09/2018 14:05

Real, good quality leather maybe. I wouldn't wear the cheap looking 'faux' stuff at all.

herecomesthsun · 18/09/2018 19:09

I think it would be usefully wipe clean if you are working with very young children.

Gah81 · 18/09/2018 20:39

I wear mine in financial services with a poloneck or a silk blouse, low courts and a blazer :)
