Smartish tops for children (girls)

Any ideas on where I can buy non t shirty tops for DC (9 and 13) that are not party wear? We have a family funeral to go to, I thought they could wear school skirts/trousers and shoes but need something plain and respectable to wear with them. And I need to buy from a bricks and mortar high street shop or supermarket because of timescale. Have looked on M&S, Next and George at Asda websites but seem to be full of sparkly Christmas party wear. (I know no one will really be looking at their clothes but they want to show respect and be appropriate.)

School uniform section?

Next do plain tops:

All the Next plain tops are t shirt material, though. I think school blouses would look odd.

I think a plain dark long sleeve tshirt with dark cardigan will be fine at those ages.

Zara?

Artandco · 19/11/2016 10:23

Or a dress might be easier? Just add dark tights

Boredomismyenemy · 19/11/2016 10:24

Have you got a h and m near? They have lots of blouse choices in the 8-14 section which are plainer, as in not blingy.

Believeitornot · 19/11/2016 10:40

Yes a dress is a good idea

Or one of those tops with a cardigan would be fine.

We don't have a Zara nearby but will try H&M. The dresses I've seen have been even more party ish and are unlikely to be worn again, so tops are the best bet I think. Have just realised DD2's only warm coat is bright red but I'm hoping people will overlook that ( or that I can borrow one from a friend) as I don't want to buy another.

I think for children as long as it's smart ish colour isn't an issue.

But this is in h and m. Just basic black jersey dress. £8. Add black tights. Can be worn casually after also

Or this top. H and m

For some reason, those links just take me to the main H&M page, Art - but thanks. I managed to get a top in H&M for DD2 and after a lot of traipsing about, found a size 6 top in New Look that will do for DD1. Thanks all for your help.
