Christie Brinkley is 62!

I heard Billy Joel's Uptown Girl on the radio earlier and casually pondered how old Christie Brinkley must be now. So I googled and chuff me she's 62 - which shouldn't be a surprise because I'm late 40s and I knew she was older than me. But anyway I had a look at her photos and she looks amazing. Sure she's probably had work and maybe there's been a lot of digital manipulation of the photos, but bloody hell I think she must have found the secret to eternal youth, or has a very decayed portrait in her attic. It almost makes me want to get off my butt, work out and apply some make up. No point to this post at all I'm afraid, just gratuitous celeb talk

Also I remember when 62 year olds looked proper old and dressed old. Thank heavens we don't feel the need to wear crimplene and cut my hair off like my nan did when she turned 40.

I dont know, I have a rather lovely crimpeene dress which gets lots of compliments whenever I wear it. Also, I'm sure Christie Brinkley is a lovely woman and all that, but I don't want to be spending goodness knows how many hours primping and sweating in the the gym to achieve that look, and I don't want to spend all that money on plastic surgery. I'd kind of like to be spending the time I've got left trying to change the world for the better, not trying to make other people believe time has stood still and I'm still 25.

Plus, I don't particularly like that apple-pie-all-American-girl look on anyone, still less on a 62 year old.

She looked amazing in Parks and Recreation. It's not a look I particularly like, but yeah she did look awesome.

I reckon at 25 you are still all dewy and young looking. Forgive an older lady who has wrinkles and bags and is astounded that someone can look that youthful at 62. Like I say, it almost makes all the work it must take worth it. Almost, but not quite. Now all-American wholesomeness isn't my style either, but she achieves it without that plastic look so common to older celebs.

She doesnt look old but she doesnt look great imo. She looks like all the rest. Fake. Tight skin [ surgery] Botox yada yada.
I don't like her style either. I just don't get the appreciation for people who have all the time and money to make themselves look good. Its not naturally them.

Oh and btw, I do believe in looking good for your age.

It is called 'having a lot of money' but I agree with you, she looks great and she must make huge efforts to stay in shape.

More proof that looks and age have very limited correlation.
I bet she doesn't question if she should be wearing this and that because of a number.

She looks good but her style is very dated, good plastic surgeon goes a long way to looking like that.

Her hands and feet ( twisted in those awful staggerers) show her age, as normal . she would look better if her face matched.

A bit surprised at the claws on this thread. Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

I'm only a couple of years off her age. That kind of look isn't my style at all and (even allowing for Photoshop) just thinking about all the work she must have to do to maintain it makes me want to go and lie down.

But providing she enjoys it and isn't doing it because she feels she has to, then good for her. I only get arsey when they start telling us it's all down to yoga and eating lots of nuts.

She looks good but she is working a "look" .I don't think people look their best at any age if they are rocking a trend. Like all those georgous 20 year olds who seem to aspire to a look more suited to 39 year olds- very done hair, over made up etc.
I like a woman to look her age but look like she has a personality. Clothes she's made her own, a hairstyle that shows effort but suits her and isn't just whatever is popular etc.
To be fair she has always looked like a version of this though so it does suit her. I always think Kirsty Allie looks great, fat or thin. Such a great face.

She may look amazing but it doesn't look much like fun, and that is what makes me uneasy, both for her and for all women.

If I'm wrong and she really enjoys workout bikes and lettuce for dinner and all the endless buffing and polishing then great and good luck to her. But it would be nice to think there were other ways of not disappearing into the wallpaper.

JustGettingStarted not everyone loves the plastic surgery high maintenance look. Iris Apfel is 95 has never had plastic surgery and has great individual style. She's certainly not someone who blends into the wallpaper.

No woman would ever want that, However its very sad to think that in order for a woman not too disappear it correlates with surgery or other cosmetic procedures. What the hell is wrong with an older woman being naturally beautiful. I think its very sad.
