New perfume help

I want to pop a new perfume on my Xmas list but am at a bit of a loss as to where I should start looking. Knowing there is a posse of scenteurs on here I was hoping for some advice.

I cannot wear citrus scents as they just do not suit me. I am a bit more low and sultry with musky scents suiting the most.

I used to wear Coco Chanel - perhaps I should try that again? Tried Allure, I guess that works but I got bored with just one and have run out.

I have Flowerbomb by Victor and Rolf
And I loved a perfume group that M&S did a few years ago - there was one that smelled like powder. They are discontinued now I see. It was Harris something I think?

Any ideas with that info what else might suit?

Thanks

Bottega Veneta, my new obsession Smile

The original eau de parfum, velvety, leathery, woody, lovely for autumn/winter. I like Coco too.

I've got Coco on now! Delicious.

Miller Harris? You can still get them, possibly not in M&S.

If you go over to fragrantica.com and pop the names in of the perfumes you like, they will suggest others with similar "notes"

I guess you are an amber/oriental type, so maybe something oud-y or leathery?

If you like powdery, then you need one of the old classic Guerlains. The powdery thing is one of their signatures. L'Heure Bleue, Apres L'Ondee, Shalimar, all different, but all with the powdery thing going on.

If you pop over to our perfumista thread, there are some stalwart Coco fans on there (shout out for Frugal) who will know better than me perfumes which are in a similar vein, but not the same.

Ooh Shalimar, my nan used to wear that! But I loved it. Thankyou - I'll check out the site you suggest Vintage and go for a sniff with this list at the weekend.

Estée Lauder Modern Muse Nuit. Woody/Oriental yet smooth. Beautiful perfume.

Some Miller Harris are discounted on allbeauty.com at the moment. Quite big discounts on some of them.

Thank you Vintage - my favourite is on sale. Whoop whoop.

Off to sniff the rest tomorrow, and I also need some foundation. Expensive trip potentially!

Excellent! A woman at the airport gave me a paper strip with 3 MH perfumes sprayed together and the combination was amazing- can't remember what they were now though!
