Facial wax strips - what to use to remove residual wax?

In the box there are a few packets of moist (with what?) wipes, but only enough for 2-3 occasions, whereas I use the strips for at least twice as many occasions. Have tried soap, body wash, even Fairy liquid but nothing seems to do whatever those wipes do. Is there anything I can buy separately that would do the trick? If anyone knows, I'd be grateful for advice. (Ps: I don't wear any make-up, have never worn any, so whatever you suggest I have to go out and buy anew... just adding this to say I can't "experiment" with anything there is at home because there is nothing apart from the above mentioned list :) ).

Olive oil

Unfold the wipes they provide carefully, use it, refold it and put back in the little envelope. You can use them a few times before they dry out, if you close it and fold it over. Apparently baby oil works as well though.

Use the non sticky side of the strips to remove the residue....press on then whip off and it removes the lot.

Ooh, this is all good to know. I had a nightmare getting all the gunge off my face last time I waxed my 'tache.

You need oil; that's what the wipes are impregnated with. Try baby oil or Vaseline.

I rip the wipes in half and put half back into the envelope.

I agree with Gillybobs. Use the other side of the strips! I use the immac strips and the non-sticky side is just the right texture to remove excess. Press it onto any residue and kind of gently press and "roll" it off. Not too roughly or it can be like re waxing.

You can definitely buy the wipes separately. They come in a massive box

I wouldn't waste my money on the wipes when any sort of oil will do the trick.

I disagree, the wipes are brilliant and save such a job. Think I stocked up when they were on offer.

For legs or bikini line yes, but a drop of oil for post moustache waxing is no bother at all.

Update: olive oil has worked perfectly today, many thanks TommyandGina. :) I don't wax anywhere else (use an epilator), so I don't think I'll buy any wipes. Thanks again to everyone who's replied.
