Anyone not wearing a sparkly dress this Xmas party season?

I'd like to get some different party wear that is not:
black
stretch lace
sequinned
sleeveless.
made of that scratchy sparkly material

What will you be wearing?

Rath remember being a kid and loving a skirt that really twirled out when you spin around? Yeah, that!

mamapants · 13/11/2016 09:04

Where is your first outfit fromsleep it's beautiful

Outcomesthebunnyofdeath · 13/11/2016 09:06

That's lovely sleep. Where is it from if you don't mind me asking?

Outcomesthebunnyofdeath · 13/11/2016 09:07

The first skirt I mean

sleepwhenidie · 13/11/2016 09:09

There are two different sleep nn's here Smile! Mine was the first - skirt was from the Outnet, now sold out unfortunately but is is Noir Sachin & Bibi (never heard of them before!) Shoes Zara and bodysuit Asos. Bought it all for a wedding a month or two ago but as the skirt is festive it will be on December duty too!

Fletcherl · 13/11/2016 09:11

I have bought a dress with a print on it of old fashion Christmas cards.

sleepwhenidie · 13/11/2016 09:13

Just found this

NicknameUsed · 13/11/2016 09:14

That's pretty much my list Rathkelter

Rathkelter · 13/11/2016 09:32

That's lovely and amazingly cheap at £15. Other than a black body (I look terrible with black near my face) what top would work do you think sleepwhendie?

Velvet widelegs from the back of the cupboard. Or a brocade skirt from a vintage shop. (I've seen quite a few recently and they're a steal.)

Although I might cheat and team with a Whistles sparkly fine knit top.

sleepwhenidie · 13/11/2016 09:52

A white top would look nice too, but you'll need to be more careful with quality than you can get away with with black (imho). Maybe something with sheer sleeves, or a short sleeved shell top if you don't mind a tiny peek (or more) of your waist?

sleepwhenidie · 13/11/2016 10:01

Maybe something like this but it might work better with a black skirt and you'll need to try on to make sure the line of the top doesn't fight with the fitted waist of the skirt, makes it tricky!

Outcomesthebunnyofdeath · 13/11/2016 18:20

Oh yes, a different sleep!

Love that one you linked to, sadly I'd probably be unlikely to squeeze into a small. It's given me an idea of what to put with my Victorian style lace body though :)

Inspired by this thread I started "window shopping" online and have been depressed by what clothes are on offer right now.

TheImprobableGirl · 13/11/2016 18:30

It's a bit sparkly.... but I saw this on a different thread and have bought it for my festive soirees!

AmberNectarine · 13/11/2016 18:42

I will re-wear this red velvet number I got from Karen Millen last year.

Fletcher that sounds fab, where was it from?

Laska5772 · 13/11/2016 18:53

Ive been looking at this Ted Baker skirt for some time and have just ordered it from HOF as they have a 20% promotion today .. It is expensive still though... (so I may not keep it..)

JuniorMint · 13/11/2016 18:58

I want this from Topshop.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/11/2016 19:03

Christmas card print sounds amazing. I'm trying to find a sparkly top or star print top or something to wear with skinny black velvet trousers (which I also haven't found yet).

WritingHome · 13/11/2016 19:33

TheImprobable that dress is AMAZING! I love it so much. Is it true to size? I think I need it!

Mumtodogs · 13/11/2016 20:02

I tried the green dress from top shop that Junior has suggested today ....I managed to talk myself out of it, but am now regretting not buying it! Would have needed to also buy new shoes or boots though and thought i migt be a bit young ( am 40)
