Dry dehydrated skin - need a richer moisturiser for Winter

I have been using Botanics Hydrating day cream for about 6 months. I really like it but I feel I need something richer now the weather had turned colder. Not greasy but super hydrating would be good. Doesnt need SPF as about to start using a separate daily SPF. Budget up to £30. Thanks

Well I've been used garnier moisture bomb - day and night versions - as recommended by Sali Hughes in her Guardian column. These were the budget options, but maybe check out her other recommendations for dehydrated skin for more luxe products, although I have been so happy with the improvement to my skin since using. Also picked up a cheap as chips Superdrug serum which she raves about.

my best tip is to get a bath oil. A proper oil. Saves you loads of time,
the other thing I like and I am a bit Hmm about body lotions in general is this Topiccrem it abosrbs like a flash and gives a nice sheen

i mever get on with Hughes tips

DrScholl · 12/11/2016 12:52

'Topicrem Essentials Ultra-Moisturizing Body Milk 500ml is an unctuous emulsion which moisturizes dry and sensitive skins for 24h.Enriched with moisturizing (urea 2%, glycerin 9.5%), protector and nourishing agents, this care penetrates instantly and eliminates all signs of dry skin.It is particulary suitable for dry, dehydrated skin (by cold, by sun...) as well as children's fragile skin.'

My son got it for me in Citypharma in paris but would readily buy again Plus pump action Wink

Try Rose oil - Neals Yard, £20 from M&S, i use it year round under moisturiser and my skin is great.

Lottapianos · 12/11/2016 13:14

Thanks sweet. I use that Superdrug serum too, it's great. Sorry, shouid have said that it's a facial moisturiser I'm after, not a body cream

oh i find they are all pretty similar

If you tend to get tight, flaky skin when the weather is cold and central heating is at full blast, Eucerin 5% urea cream is unbeatable. It is not greasy and urea is super hydrating.

cardoon · 12/11/2016 13:29

Another vote for Eucerin - I use the night cream too.....but that cannot be describes as non greasy!

notagiraffe · 12/11/2016 13:31

Nivea Q10 day cream. It has a very elastic feel to it, so the skin feels supple and not tight.

The Bodyshop's Oils of Life. Its not the cheapest but it's really good, very effective and smells fab. I'm not a fan of Bodyshop products but this has been really good for my dehydrated face, along with religiously taking a good Omega 3 Fatty Acid supplement for the last six months.

I'm using moisturebomb and not overly impressed.
Will return to Kiehls or Avene when I run out methinks.

Ilovehedgehogs · 15/11/2016 23:48

I use Neals yard Rose oil in the winter, I should have started earlier as my skin is attractively flaking all over the house.

N0tfinished · 16/11/2016 00:07

Vichy Nutrilogie 2. Good value & the only moisturiser that makes my skin feel really comfortable & moisturised.

80sWaistcoat · 16/11/2016 06:39

I'm using a REN face oil from m and s. It's really helped.

mowglik · 16/11/2016 11:20

I used to get terrible flaky skin (and I have very oily skin!) in winter but haven't had any issues last two winters. I do the following:

  1. Layer a facial oil under your moisturiser in the PM unless you really need in the AM too
  1. Use lighter (watery) hydrating layers in the AM. I use the body shop oils of life essence which is a watery essence with oils in it - you just pat it on then let it dry then add your usual moisturiser. Use two or more layers if you need it
eyespydreams · 16/11/2016 11:32

I was using cerave as a recommendation from here but am super skint so tried L'Oréal triple action day sensitive as was on offer and am shocked how good it is, normally v scathing re L'Oréal. Also using a HOME MADE cushion of bb cream, serum and lots of Korean essence and it is the bomb for moisturising skin too.

JamieVardysParty · 16/11/2016 12:10

Clarins face oil topped with Origins moisture intensive moisturiser.

humanfemale · 16/11/2016 13:15

Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream - the best moisturiser EVER!
Plus smells amazing.

Or if its's too £ you could try LRP Cicaplast Baume B5. It's fragrance free and on offer in Boots just now.
