M&s beauty calendar

Ivytheterrible · 09/11/2016 13:17

So I want the fabled beauty calendar but I can't find anything to buy on the m&s website.

I need...
New ankle boots
A LBD
Dressy tops for evenings out.
But there is nothing I even want to try on!

I have 3 children aged 1-6 but can only find new socks for them.

What can I buy? Confused

I bought two Blush
One. Have opened, stashed bits I will use (most of it) and put a few bits aside for presents.
Then I have the other to open during December. I am using the empty box of the first one to fill up with bits for DH so he has one to open too! Think miniatures, chocolate etc.

Shush, no spoilers!

Got mine but won't open till advent

P1nkP0ppy · 18/11/2016 16:54

I seem to be the only person unenamoured by the M&S advent calendar 😊
I can't see how it contains even £70 worth of beauty products (which is what you're paying for it) when nearly everything is sample size.

There were hundreds of them on every floor in my local store this morning and the sales assistant said they're just not selling and she'd given up trying to push them ☹️

stonecircle · 18/11/2016 17:17

I'm interested to see what size the products are. The calendar is very deep so I'm hoping that means the contents are a decent size and that it's not down to (expensive) packaging. £250 does seem a lot - works out at £8 per item (I think!)

Still can't decide whether to keep mine or give it to DS's 22 year old gf. Can't think she'll have much use for the time filler!

Needastrongone · 18/11/2016 17:54

I don't want any spoilers either!

I bought the Sanctuary one for DD, at £25, an early Christmas treat. It's on a 3 for 2 offer at Boots, so perhaps better value than M&S? We will see. Smile

It's very heavy

AmethystMoon · 18/11/2016 21:35

Yes there are some full size items this year, several. Also some quite close to full size, think 30ml instead of a full size 50ml.

I don't understand how I have paid 70 pounds for it? It was 35 pounds. I bought Christmas presents that I would have bought anyway to 'qualify'. Anyway lots but 35 pounds worth of clothes etc., but the calendar then return the original item/s, so definitely only costing 35 pounds.

Deux · 18/11/2016 22:18

Iirc last year there were 3 full size lipsticks/glosses and full size nail polish.

Here's what was in last year's. www.beautyqueenuk.co.uk/2015/12/marks-and-spencer-advent-calendar-2015.html?m=1

My favourites were the Mio Yoga Bath and the Volume Vixen mascara.

knockedover · 18/11/2016 23:18

Bless my mil, she's got this for my Xmas gift, love her x

shins · 19/11/2016 00:22

Yeah I didn't mind spending €40. I buy all my undies and hosiery in Marks so was just stocking up as usual!

Nettletheelf · 19/11/2016 08:36

Bought one in store yesterday. They had an open one in the beauty hall so that you could play with the products. It is bloody fantastic for £35.

Costacoffeeplease · 19/11/2016 08:54

Mine has arrived! I'm not even looking to see what's in it until I start opening it - can't wait!

AmethystMoon · 19/11/2016 19:07

I need help.....bought a third one today Grin
It just contains so much I use! I won't spoil anything and I am saving one to 'do' properly. Amazing value when they are products you already use or alternatives. I was doing some more Christmas shopping today, realised I was spending about fifty pounds and so thought.....sod it, just one more won't hurt Blush
It will save me money over next year though easily. Hope this thread continues throughout December for the daily opening chat Smile

Needastrongone · 19/11/2016 20:27

I might start a clean fresh thread on 1st December, or shall we stick with this?

I thought about buying a few, saves on a beauty box subscription. Smile

AmethystMoon · 19/11/2016 21:02

New one sounds good needa, nice and fresh Grin
Glad you also see the benefit of multi purchases! There's another thread with people morning it's crap and a load of tat and not worth 250 pounds. Fair enough if it's not your thing but if you are into beauty products you'll know it's a massive bargain.
Can't wait for 1st Decenber to celebrate advent openings with my people Grin

AmethystMoon · 19/11/2016 21:03

Moaning not morning Blush

Twogoats · 19/11/2016 21:03

I bought one for my mum. The acid peel thing scares me though... Is it safe?

Needastrongone · 19/11/2016 21:09

Right, I shall start on 1 December. Smile

I shall also comment on the Sanctuary one too, as that is £25, plus cheaper on 3 for 2 and looks incredibly good value and luxurious, so might be an outside punt for next year.

Costacoffeeplease · 19/11/2016 21:16

I have the sanctuary one too Blush

bluebeck · 30/11/2016 16:20

Bumping thread so we can all compare notes from tomorrow
