Will I hugely regret this ?

I think so. I have a lovely warm winter coat which doesn't have a hood, but most of the time I don't wear it and instead wear and older, worn out warm winter coat because it has a hood. Which is why I'm waiting to receive a new Uniqlo down coat that I just ordered yesterday because it has a hood! I think it's a necessity.

Bums! It is such a good price but obviously for a reason

Well I like a lovely high collar that almost comes up to my ears and a hat (weight depending on weather). I never wear a hood, they restrict visibility and flap about......so it's really whether you are a hat or hood type person!!

mando12345 · 07/11/2016 09:16

I prefer without a hood, looks untidy and I prefer to wear a wooly hat if really cold, much warmer than a hood.
That coat has a high collar you can zip up.

I think you can't wear down in wet weather anyway, so as long as you have a decent hat it shouldn't matter, unless you're considering a serious expedition.

I cycle to work so I thought this would be good to shove in pannier. I hate going out to meetings in my hi vis jacket.

Lol at serious expedition. My hooded one was handy for the school run but my days of standing in a windy playground are over

I think you need a hood in the UK ...

MadisonMontgomery · 07/11/2016 19:33

I do think they look better without a good, but realistically you need one in our climate.

AteRiri · 07/11/2016 19:37

I have that coat.

I always wear a beanie though when it's cold.

CottonSock · 07/11/2016 19:40

Probably not waterproof anyway so wear a hat. I dont think a hood would look right on that coat

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 07/11/2016 20:18

ateriri do you like it?

I have a thermoball jacket, it's not hooded. I have a beanie hat for that.

Yes, I like it. I also have ultra light down vest with hood and without.

Oly5 · 07/11/2016 21:01

I would need a hood.
My north face arctic parka is my favourite wet weather coat!

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 07/11/2016 22:17

Thanks all, I will wait and see w hen it arrives

I have a shorter hollow fibre jacket , which I prefer hoodless, I just wear a wooly hat. But I also have the aforementioned Artic Parka and I have a love hate relationship with the hood. Yes, the hood is gloriously warm, but it does restrict visibility and bugs me being round my face.

FannyWincham · 07/11/2016 23:58

I need a hood at the moment as there is no other way of keeping my head dry when pushing anorak and wrangling a preschooler. However, I hate the way in which it affects my peripheral vision and I wouldn't cycle with it up.

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 08/11/2016 07:17

I still have a Berghaus thing I got as a freebie on mn a million years ago. It was reasonable waterproof at one time but not now. After having it so long I am sick of th sight of it.

depends on your hair maybe! I said I need a hood because the slightest hint of wetness in the air and by the time I get to work I have a frizz ball on my head. So when it's not wet enough for an umbrella I need to use a hood to keep my hair looking semi-presentable

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 08/11/2016 13:16

I have short straight hair and I cycle with a helmet to work. I will not be staring in any shampoo ads in the near future
