preteen skin care help needed

Dd is starting to have a few problems with her skin, black heads, little oily but dry in places too.

I believe in starting good habbits, so I'm very happy to buy her a few products.

I'm planning a day of mummy and dd shopping. But could do with some product advice. I use some fab products but they are just not suitable for dd.

High street sort of price and if at all possible something that comes in nice packaging (sigh) dd is a girly girl.

I have had good luck with teens providing them with the following:
A facial brush (see below)
A mild acid non-drying cleanser (I like the ones with glycolic acid) For acne salicylic acid cleansers are pretty good.
A facial scrub (I use the one below-no microbeads, and it smells great.)

For more severe cases I include retin-A.

(I am a physician but not a dermatologist-I do this for my kids and friends' kids.)

The Good Things range looks nice. Some kids might not like the way some of the products mention blackheads, etc on the packaging.

Its all hand made with natural ingredients , its really lovely & very good value too, DD used it at this age & for a few years, she still uses the deodorant & toners. I love the Clary Sage skin creme which I still use too

We tried lots of things and found many of them too harsh.
What has worked best, weirdly enough, is washing face with that Dead Sea Sulphur soap.... it isn't the most pleasant aroma but doesn't linger on the skin for too long.
The other cleanser that has worked is Cetaphil.
Both these things were recommended by a dermatologist before trying on prescription things and have worked wonders.

My DD uses the Amie range from Waitrose. The pink face wash and the yellow moisturiser. I bought the micellar water too for taking make up off (she only wears a little bit at weekends). It's designed for young skin and is very reasonable. Look at the website, you can buy it from there too.

I'm no doctor or dermatologist but I can't believe that using glycolic acid or salicylic acid is a good idea on such young skin.

LUSH do some lovely products for skin and would be gentle - the Greased Lightning is good on spots and some of the cleansers/masks might be nice for your preteen. Find a helpful assistant in one of their shops, if you can, they know their stuff.

Bagel-I am just relating what has worked for some teens I know-but that is an "n" of about 10. YMMV.

Skin gets more delicate as it ages.

What brand cleanser would you recommend please Pittiless? One of my dds has had success with Liz Earle but not the other, think she finds it hard to rinse off.

Hmmm-the Liz Earle cleanser seems to remove makeup-not sure if mine does as I and the teens I have given it to don't wear makeup. It probably does.

They are as good as they look too Bagel, its a small company, the lady started with a stall on our local market & makes everything herself from old traditional recipes. She moved to London, so now does Portobello I belive. DD was allergic/intolerant to a lot of additives, so this stuff was a godsend when she first started taking an interest in cleansers etc. I still love it myself & it all smells lovely
