Help! Formal clothes for interview needed!

I unexpectedly have a job interview on Friday and need to dress quite formally - help!! I don't have many formal clothes as current work is quite casual.

Any ideas about which shops to try? Should I buy a suit with a skirt?

I'd go for a dress suit or dress + jacket rather than a skirt suit, looks just as smart but easier to wear, one less item of clothing to handle!

I always wear a formal and conservative dress to interviews as I look horrid in jackets so tend to avoid them. Esprit is good value for money.

Thanks! I also don't look great in jackets either but can't find dresses that aren't very short sleeved or sleeveless.

I don't find Hobbs fit me very well, not sure why..

I work in a corporate environment and for my interview I wore a Boden dress which was very smart. I'm not sure they can deliver in time but they have started doing some very nice dresses for work and many have long sleeves.

The other option is M&S - their tailoring (particularly in Autograph) can be very good - and generally washable (does anyone dry clean any more???)

Find a department store and wander round, house of Fraser, Debenhams, joh Lewis etc and you will find something,

I find a plain dark shift dress and fitted jacket the smartest and also work in corporate. Trouser suits can also look smart. I would not turn up to a formal interview with no jacket and just a coat.
