Would this dress suit me size 16

Would this dress suit me? For a Christmas wedding. I'm a size 16, 5ft 7, big boobs, good legs. I wouldn't ever think to look in coast but just seen this online. Is it worth a try do you think?

Sometimes floaty things make us with ample boobage look round all over. The cut might be good on that dress though.

I love the colour.

Agree you need to try it on. I suspect it may come down to the distance between norks and waist.

Not sure, it wouldn't have suited me when I was a size 16, its a lovely dress but I think for someone v slender. Could look 'matronly' with large boobs, IMO.

I was about a size 16 for 2 weddings a couple of years ago and wore more structured dresses, I love floaty dresses but wanted something that was flattering on me.

Best way I found was to try on almost every dress in my size, even if I didn't like the look of them at first.

In case anyone is wondering, it fits beautifully on he top and waist but the pleats hang over my tummy and bum making me look quite large. I could get away with it and feel nice dressed with heels etc but I think I will probably go and look for something else. Might keep it in the hope I can go down a size? Bad idea I know!

If you can bear to low carb for a couple of weeks you will be amazed! I have just done 10 days and already fitting into clothes that wouldn't do up 2 weeks ago. It's tough though for the first 2 days. Join us on bootcamp, it's a lovely dress, I reckon give yourself a goal!

Oh thank you for responding Dan. I need a kick to do something about my weight - was a happy size 14 before second DS and struggling with my new size a lot! I'll take a look at the thread. So hard trying to control my sugar /carb intake when I'm up at 5am but need to look fab for the wedding.

It's a lovely dress but you say you have good legs and it's going to cover them up. Why not look for something that will show them off e.g. knee length?

Another vote for low carbing. I did 2 weeks and was never hungry - although rather irritable and anxious for for the first 3 days. I dropped 7lb and mainly from my belly. I'm a convert. Read the 8 week blood sugar diet first.
Just mentioning in case others are looking to go down a dress size before Christmas.

It's the pleats I wouldn't wear - make me feel like a galleon in a full wind. Go structured and get your legs out 🙂

What is this low carb of which you speak, young ones?

I have a pre-Christmas wedding and am 2 stone heavier since February (busy work, no exercise time)

Losing the weight might allow me to fit into an existing dress rather than panic buying between here and then

If you have big boobs it might be tight on the top with underarm gape?

Fitted waist might make the pleats stand out all around.

I'd have to try it on. It's one of those dresses that could go either way for me, fabulous or reduce me to tears. Blush

Thanks everyone - I'm going to try it on again tonight once the kids are asleep so will try and post a picture and then make a decision about whether I need to go shopping and try loads of things on. Just hard finding time to shop and think with two little ones and work...

Inneedmorelemon - the top fits beautifully, it's the pleats over my bum and tummy I'm worried about, can't decide if it looks ok or dreadful so will try a picture later for the mumsnet jury.

8 week blood sugar diet has been my saviour. I had been stressed and depressed and put on so much weight. I got rid of the source of stress first then I did the 8WBSD and lost 21lbs in 6 weeks. I've got my confidence and my mojo back. It's cost me a bit in new clothes, but I've tried to go with classic things that suit my shape and won't date.

I'd be cautious of the big boobs element to it - is that flap going to be where it sits on her? Otherwise lovely. If you have big boobs though I'd get them out a tad? A scooped neck?

Not if you are large of nork, otherwise ok. Bit expensive for a one off dress tnough, no?

since when we're dresses sold as "wedding guest dresses?
