Too short and too casual for a wedding?!

this gold and black skirt

I'd be wearing it with thick tights and heels.

Also, is it too casual? Normally I'm a dress at weddings kind of person but it's end of November and I like the look of this!

I really like that! Think the length would be fine unless it's a very formal do, well, as long as you're not a that much taller than the model. Says she's 5'7". Is certainly not too casual.

burnishedsilver · 30/10/2016 19:30

Not too casual but I think it's way too short. If you love it (it is lovely) you could probably have the hem let down.

SexTrainGlue · 30/10/2016 19:34

Very short, but the major drawback to me would be what you would wear it with, so you don't look as if you're dressed for a funeral when you're sitting down.

Because it'd difficult to picture anything other than solid black working on the top half and that would look wrong when seated.

ShimmeringIce · 30/10/2016 19:42

Hmm bit short I think, thick tights would help, as would flattish shoes, but I hate seeing people dressed as though for clubbing at weddings (only the length suggests evening wear btw). And black can be inappropriate too

HardcoreLadyType · 30/10/2016 19:47

Unless you're very tall, it will belonged on you than in the picture.

What would you wear on top? The black looks lovely, but lots of people in the UK are anti wearing black to a wedding.

BackforGood · 30/10/2016 19:57

I think too short myself.
I'm also thinking thick tights are a bit too 'work' or 'around the house' rather than formal for a wedding.

Of course, weddings come in all shapes and sizes (and levels of formality) these days, but I'm assuming it is relatively traditional for you to be asking Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/10/2016 19:57

I really like that.

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 30/10/2016 20:01

I like it, I like the length too - if it was longer it would be very mumsy/frumpy.

That said, I think it is too short for a wedding. Hen night yes, wedding no.

Redtartanshoes · 30/10/2016 20:28

Depends how tall you are. And also the wedding couple age/venue.

Recently went to fairly posh wedding, couple in 30's but there was a very wide range of dress styles. You wouldn't have looked out of place in that. Esp if dressed up, black tights, heels etc

I really like it

ConfusedDotty · 30/10/2016 20:32

It's lovely. Go for it.

SpunkyMummy · 30/10/2016 20:38

Is it a formal wedding?

Maybe with flats? Because it is a bit short...

But the length isn't really the issue (imo). what would you wear on top? A black blouse would obviously look lovely... But that would be a very "black look" for a wedding.

But it is a lovely skirt :)! I really like it

bluenose1986 · 30/10/2016 20:40

I love it

Anyone else had this pop up in their social media feed after reading this thread?
Sneaky beggars aren't they.

Anyway, could be a good alternative?
