40th bday jewellery ideas (for me)!

I'm looking for a special/unique piece of jewelery for my 40th in a few months. I want to give dh some ideas who will be coordinating with both families. He would likely have between £400 and £500 to spend, and I'd really like it to be something special especially as it would be from everyone. Anyone have any ideas or who can point me towards some unique jewellers? I am petite and don't go for anything too chunky or blingy if that helps. Usually simple pendants on silver chains. I already have some solid silver bangles so looking for something a bit different.

Diamond earrings so jealous

I had diamond earrings for my 40th, I wear them everyday they are beautiful but we spent £1100 on them. Obvs you can get cheaper small ones.

For that sort of money I would not be going for mass produced stuff but instead look at getting something direct from the makers. I'm particularly fond of these people and if you are in London they are exhibiting in the Oxo tower from the middle of November.

For my 25th wedding anniversary we went to a local jeweller who makes jewellery to your own design.
I had two pendants made with 9ct gold wrapped around semi precious amathyst and rose quartz gems. They have been remarked upon so many times with many enquiries of where I bought them.
I went to a local gem shop, chose two lovely shaped semi-precious gems, and then took them to the goldsmith who encased them both (separately!) in 9ct gold which spirals around them and holds the gems in place, the jeweller put a decent size bezel (not sure if this is the right word) so I could put a gold chain through. I already had the gold chain so made sure the bezel was big enough to take the chain.

You will never see another similar item. It is lovely to have something I designed and which is unique.

Hairy Growler does beautiful silver necklaces in particular made out of old silver coins. They are all handmade and a little bit different, I especially like the hare ones. Prices from £80-£300 depending on the design.

Make a visit to Bicester Village and go straight to Annoushka. Always something takes my eye. Better value for money at BV. Or look at The Wonder Room at Selfridges on line. The Theo Fennell cross took my eye. Brilliant designer and change from £500. Chic.

Hairy Growler is a genius. As a silversmith I am in awe of his creations.

Me too MrsT. He's sawmanship (is that's a word) is amazing. I was only looking at his website today again, I really want the keys pendant, or a coin.

Wright and Teague do lovely handmade jewellery. My husband has bought me some gorgeous pieces over the years.

Go get something made. Visit some jeweller's workshops and get a feel for their work.
