Does anyone moisturise their face daily?

I recently got a dry patch on my face and have just started moisturising daily.

Does anyone do this and is it recommended?

If so, what moisturising cream do you use?

Do you use a seperate eye cream?

Have you noticed a difference over a period of time?! (Softer skin, less wrinkles etc)

Thank you Smile

Yes I've always had dry skin. I now use Elemis marine cream which is expensive but a little goes a very long way.

TrumpsFluffyHair · 30/10/2016 13:22

I can't bear the smell of the Elemis marine cream. Which is just as well considering the price of it!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/10/2016 13:28

I've been using Elemis for years but the smell is beginning to bother me.

I always cream my face. Dry sensitive skin so o can't afford not to. In the summer i use Nivea day cream. Cheap and cheerful but in the winter I upgrade to Clinique moisture surge. Im out and about and i run a lot so i need that extra something.

Ooooo some lovely recommendations! Can't wait to try some new products.

Does anyone use a light facial moisturiser with spf in? Any recommendations? (Thank you to the posters below who have already shared there's)

I used to like Olay with an SPF. Can't tolerate it any more as my skin's turned sensitive but I used it for a couple of decades and I think it's done its job pretty well.

No moisturiser has enough SPF to truly make a difference. You need something like Biore Watery Essence (doesn't make your face look like you've applied lard for your cross channel swim like most SPFs) on before your moisturiser. It's spf 50 and cheap as chips on ebay and Amazon.

Elemis Marine Cream smells (to me ) like Poison. Which I love, so isn't a problem. The problem I had with it is is it is so light, like a lotion rather than a cream and so full of silicone it rolls your skin. (well, it did mine) I found I was buying it just for the scent in the end!

Or use a real suncream designed for sports (not those lurching on fugly high heels from office to indoor restaurant, which is what the 'spf' moisturisers are aimed at - hence bugger all UV protection).

sports suncreams are non-greasy and non-sticky because they assume you are doing something. Very little stink, too.

no need to look greased up.

Yes, I'm 42. Since I was around 17/18. Used to use basic stuff like nivea or boots own. For the last 13 years I've used lush Shangri La, my skin likes the oils in it and heaven help me if I try anything else.

I used sunblock when I was younger but don't tend to use it so much these days.

murphys · 31/10/2016 13:07

My 14 year old moisturises twice a day, but then again we live in a hot country (currently 35) and with sweating, swimming etc, we do suffer more with drier skin.

OP, not sure how well it works, but I just read somewhere that soaking a cotton pad in a bicarb/water mixture and leaving it on the under eye area for a few minutes each day, its meant to help after a week or so. I haven't tried it yet, but think I will as I have dark circles also.

JamieVardysParty · 31/10/2016 14:47

27 now and have moisturised daily since I was about 12/13. I have always had very dry, dehydrated skin.

I use SPF daily, normally Banana Boat Sport SPF 50.

LizzieMacQueen · 31/10/2016 14:55

Clarins Hydra quench has spf15 and is exceptionally light. Quite expensive but to me, worth every penny.

Florathefern · 31/10/2016 15:24

I moisturise morning and evening. I assumed everyone did. About ten years ago I started getting oily patches and went for a few facials. The beautician told me I still needed to moisturise.

I am very bad at using eye cream regularly though.

ElornaElephant · 31/10/2016 15:30

I'm in my early twenties and have moisturised morning and night since I was 11/12 - something my mum drummed into me, it doesn't take long before you pick up the habit! I've dabbled with all sorts over the years but I've been using Simple hydrating lotion consistently the past three or four years. It does the job lovely and helps with blemishes but I am noticing my skin becoming more dry now so I might need to change to something slightly richer in the near future. Haven't bothered with eye cream or night creams yet but again may invest in the near future.

Jointhejoyrun75 · 31/10/2016 16:24

I'm 40 and have moisturised daily since age 15 or so. It has been a requirement more than anything for me, as I have very dry skin and am eczema prone. I can't imagine not putting any face cream on after washing, I'd crack!

Simplecountrygirl · 31/10/2016 19:05

29 and have cleansed and moisturised morning and night since I was about 15.
