CLARINS Super Restorative day and night cream fans

Anyone use these and feel they're worth the financial outlay?

I'm 54. My skin's really suffering with menopause. I've been using some Superdrug stuff and sometimes some Vichy. I recently bought a CLARINS foundation which is wonderful. The SA gave me some samples of Super Restorative and, I have to say, it feels so good. Makes my facial skin look plumped again and it feels soothed in a way it hasn't for a long time. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw how much it cost! Can't really justify that amount but just wondering whether anyone else has used and justifies the expense?

Must be someone? Anyone?

I find Clarins over priced and over perfumed. Oh and over rated.

Don't go for the hype and the red packaging. They promise the earth but being frank nothing you put on your face can remove wrinkles- if it did it would be a medicine and not sold as a cosmetic. (The clue is in the name.)

There are cheaper and just as good products out there- I'm using Olay 3 point Regenerist, unperfumed version, which is £30 but half that on Amazon.

If your skin is dry post menopause, increase good fats- every day I eat almond butter, a few walnuts, avocado, olive oil, real butter, and salmon / sardines weekly.

Unlike the above post I really rate it.

I try other makes but keep coming back to it.

I'd recommend it.

I don't think clarins is against animal testing though

I have to say I'm a recent convert to these creams - and the serum - and I love them. After about 4 months my face feels sort of 'bouncy'. I know nothing can reverse wrinkles and ageing, but these products really suit my skin and are lovely to use. If you can afford it, treat yourself. The Clarins woman in my local Boots is great - she's always giving me free stuff in travel sizes, and I make sure I buy stuff when the extra points offers are on to ease the pain a bit! I'm 62 by the way and have never got on with Olay or L'Oreal products.

I never used Olay before but the one I use now has been voted & recommended by loads of beauty gurus.

TBH I wonder if Clarins was £5 a pot, bought off the shelf in Boots, not in fancy packaging and didn't have the 'luxury' tag if people would still feel the same? I do think there is an element of 'costs a lot = makes a difference' so we convince ourselves it does.

I used to use Clinique stuff for years and years -£45 a pot -people used to ask me what I used as my skin was so good- and having changed to cheaper products I can say there is no difference at all.

If you want something that supposedly works then I'd say Boots No 7 is the best in the cheaper ranges.

I'm sure a lot of it is psychological, but I enjoy using Clarins and yes, I love the look of them on my bathroom shelf. And if it makes me happy, that probably shows in my face and makes me look good. If I stop being able to afford them, I'll go back to a cheaper brand but for now they work for me.

I used Olay Regenerist for years. Then, one day it just started itching. I know it was that range because I used it only on my neck, to use it up and my neck came out in tiny itchy dots which bled when I scratched them.

The Superdrug stuff is their own brand anti-ageing and I don't like it. It's watery to apply, no "body" to it and leaves my skin shiney but flat and parched looking halfway through the day.

I'm talking myself into the CLARINS, aren't I? To be fair, they shove something in the mix which plumps my 54 yr old skin.

Ive used Clarins in the past and loved it. But then it stopped making a difference to my skin. So I looked at alternatives. Also had a bad reaction to Olay stuff, with itching and spots, Nivea caused spots, and my skin became more and more sensitive to the point that even my own perspiration made my skin sting.
I now use Neal's Yard frankincense, which isn't always highly rated on here, but has helped my skin to heal.
I also use Retin-A, and glycolic acid, which have made a massive difference.
Ofcourse I use a separate SPF on my face and neck each day.

So many typos

I do like Clarins facial oils though, particularly the Blue Orchid

Their super restorative eye cream is AMAZING. Bloody expensive but I have found it's worth it. You can use it on 'problem' areas like my forehead (super wrinkled). I'm not on commission by the way

I haven't used the super restorative cream but use other Clarins products and love them. I love their oils and foundations. I also use Decleor moisturisers and love these too. I found that for me, many other brands -esp No.7 just sit on my skin and don't take away the tight dry feeling. Vichy worked for a while but then gave me spots. If you are near an Yves Rocher store, they also do lovely moisturisers.
