Promotion interview outfit - please help!

Hi, I'm hoping to get some advice. Here's the deal - I'm interviewing for a promotion in a few weeks time and having just had a baby and piled on a bunch of weight I've not yet lost I fit none of the smartish outfits in my wardrobe so need something new. I'm really bad at dressing smartly. My go-to outfits for such occasions usually consist of black wide leg trousers, some sort of 3/4 sleeve blouse (v-neck or grandad collar) and possibly an ill fitting black suit jacket (narrow shoulders - I always feel odd in fitted jackets). I need some inspiration!

I'm currently size 16 and I wouldn't wear a dress due to my inordinately big legs and cankles. I tend to be limited in terms of trouser styles as well due to said legs. I have (or had, pre- baby) a reasonable waist, boobs, shoulders and arms.

Any ideas of styles I could go for? I don't want to spend too much as money's tight on mat leave and I hope to only wear it once and be back down to my usual size by the time I need something like this again. TIA!

My to-do interview outfit is black wide leg trousers, black shoes, plain silk t shirt style blouse like boden ravello and a jacket, maybe loose fitting in a different colour. Usually cream top, taupe jacket. Hang on I'll try some links.

boden ravello not necessarily this colour

this sort of shape

good luck with the interview! you staples sound like a good option and I would stick with those, you dont want to be worrying about it.

i second the boden ravello tops, the v neck ones are v flattering and there is a 20% off sale atm. the richmond trousers are also one of my workwear staples, very flattering.

how about banana republic or gap? good work wear and decent prices.

Thanks for the replies, it's good to know I'm not too far off the mark with my usual interview get up. I suppose I will feel more comfortable too in s style I'm used to. I like that Boden top, I might need to have a look for something similar that's a bit cheaper (don't want to risk eBay then not being able to return).

Margaritas thanks for the jacket suggestion. It's just a normal blazer type one I've had in the past so that shape might do me more favours.

Thanks Bumble! I'll check out Gap and Banana Republic too.
