Decent opaque tights that don't cost the earth?

As above, I'm really struggling to find any decent tights this year. I often used to get them from Primark and they were fab quality, but the last lot I got from there barely reached my waist and were like hipsters.

I jus bought some black ones from Tesco in desperation as I had none, and they are awful. The first time I've worn them they have stretched in some places and look sheer.

I want some black tights, but also some nice muted winter colours.

ME TOO!

Maudlinmaud · 27/10/2016 11:29

Oh! I was going to suggest primark as thats where mine are from, but I have also picked some up in peacocks and they have tummy control built in.

itshappenedagain · 27/10/2016 11:33

I find Assad climate control ones good. Don't know if they do other colitis than the usual black/ blue/ nude though.

LemonBreeland · 27/10/2016 11:38

Thanks will have a look at those suggestions. No Peacocks anywhere near me though. I think maybe I need to just spend a bit more and hope they last.

MIL gave me some M&S ones she bought by mistake and they were really good quality and lasted ages.

I really want some that have a nice textured pattern too, but haven't seen much around.

Sainsbury's control tights stay up well and last well. They also have the added bonus of feeling like someone is carrying your bum round for you. Wink

I think their 25% off sale is on at the moment too and I also would recommend the fleece lined ones and the normal opaques. I always buy a size bigger in those though.

RaingodswithZippos · 27/10/2016 12:36

I got some brightly coloured opaques (fuchsia pink, electric blue) in Sainsburys for £3.50 each this week and they are great quality. the fit is good too.

HellonHeels · 27/10/2016 13:08

M&S have coloured opaques and also a range of patterns/colours for winter.

Their opaques are the best IMO.

I got some at Primark recently and they were not really cheap (£3.50) and the quality is awful - short in the leg and no gusset.

knowler · 27/10/2016 13:38

M&S usually have a good range and i really like their extra thick ones, or John Lewis. I was going to say Tesco... but i now see they are the ones you hate! I'm wearing some tesco 80 denier (maybe F&F range?) which i am impressed by, and the 60 denier were also very good.

LemonBreeland · 27/10/2016 13:46

knowler the Tesco ones I bought are 40 denier. I was going to get the 60 or 80 but they didn't have any in my size. Maybe the thicker ones are better quality.

FranHastings and RaingodswithZippos I will check out Sainsbury as DD has some school tights from there and I was really impressed with the quality.

These are good quality and wash really well

I really like the M&S 60 dernier opaques. I'm tall but fairly slim, and normally find that tights either aren't long enough or slip down from my hips. The M&S ones are spot on and wash really well.

LittleOyster · 27/10/2016 15:00

Yep, I get a really saggy gusset with Primary ones - most of the day it's around my knees. So now my favourites are the Boots 70 denier ones. 3 for £6 and on buy one get one half price right now.

LemonBreeland · 27/10/2016 15:05

Didn't think of Boots. I'm sure I used to buy from there too.

M&S opaques usually good. There was a 20% off code around recently and they do a free Click and Collect so probably won't end up being more costly then Tesco/ Primark plus they will actually last!

Don't buy tights with colitis

CrazyDuchess · 27/10/2016 18:07

M&S are the best by far!
