Hello ..I have posted a couple of months ago about extensions but I tried somewhere new and they are even worse than the last lot..
This is my hair..it's ratty and no matter how much I brush and condition it's like this ..
I paid £320
I'm so disappointed

Do you think I've been ripped off?

Why did you think you needed extensions?!

Get them out and grow it again and save your pennies for something fun!

Lorelei76 · 25/10/2016 18:59

Oof, what beautiful natural hair!

pictish · 25/10/2016 19:06

I might be missing something obvious as I am not knowledgeable about extensions, but why would you cut off your real hair, which looks lovely, only to replace it with fake hair?

Your natural hair looks great. I am so confused!

DoorOnTheRight · 25/10/2016 19:23

It does look like you've been ripped off. But why do you need us to tell you that? I'm sorry that you've spent so much money. If I were you I'd get them removed and salvage your natural hair. I agree with the pp who suggests taking a friend with you for moral support if you aren't feeling too confident about it.

Even if you have to have quite a significant trim, shorter natural hair looks infinitely better than long extensions. I've never seen anyone with extensions in real life that didn't look like they'd slept in a bin.

Louisajohnson224 · 25/10/2016 19:30

My natural hair was quite fine and I wanted it thicker.
I just wanted to add more thickness not realising she would have to cut and thin my natural hair to blend it ..maybe if I do remove extensions it will come back to life again

I've had extensions before and mine went that dry after around 4-5 months and in all honestly I excessively styled mine with heat etc. I do think you should go back and speak with them however I dare say they will go down the route of saying you haven't taken care of them.. blah blah blah.

I think you have lovely hair without them tbh. I had mine added for thickness but it's a catch 22 because they make your hair thinner in the long run.

Spendymcspendy · 25/10/2016 19:37

Hi op, do you know how many extensions the hair dresser put in for you? Did you ask for thickness or did the hair dresser also add length to your natural hair with the extensions?

DoorOnTheRight · 25/10/2016 19:37

If I need to give my hair and extra bit of 'poof' then I use a squirt of Bastiste dry shampoo - the volumising one. Seriously, it does the job well.

ShmooBooMoo · 25/10/2016 19:42

It might mean sacrificing some length to get back the illusion of thickness but it will grow. Insist on your money back in full, plus free removal of extensions. If they have Facebook complain on their page if they fob you off! Go to trading standards/ tell them you'll go to small claims court. Take a friend with you who you know is more confident/ tougher than you are.

Btw, what hairdresser, when the client has fine hair and wants added thickness, would thin it out and add extensions? She might as well have just cut it but, then, she wouldn't have made £320, would she?

Might be worth trying this with a small cutting of an extension:

Don't let them get away with it!

Sweetdisposition91 · 25/10/2016 20:11

Why did she thin it before putting them in that makes no sense to me!
When I had extensions I went into the swimming pool thinking they'll be ok - they weren't! They went awfully dry, but sleeping with them covered in coconut oil seemed to help so it might be worth a try?
I had micro rings and my hair was so much thinner after I would never do it again! I just wear clip ins if I'm going out and just letting my natural hair grow out - it's the best way and a lot less maintenance.
