Help me find a dress for my wobbly body!

I'm between a 12 and a 14, hour glass shape but quite stocky shoulders so anything with a high neck makes me look like a sack of spuds.
I've been trying on all day around the shops and just can't find anything flattering. Does anyone have a similar body shape that can help?

What occasion? Monsoon is great, otherwise Debenhams have lots of brands - I get a lot in there.

YoScienceBitch · 22/10/2016 22:19

My birthday party!
Don't want to spend more than 40 though.

Definitely both of those, especially the sale rails.

YoScienceBitch · 22/10/2016 22:22

Thankyou will have a look. What sort of style do you think?

Debenhams and ask for help. I usually nod and walk on but I had 30 mins to buy a dress for my twins christening so when the sales assistant asked if I needed help. Well I did. She got me one on sale rail and fitted perfectly. Definitely recommend it

I have a similar figure (with pretty big norks ) and I wore a Joe Brown's dress to a wedding last week. Got so many compliments. They don't do the one i wore any more but this one is the same shape:

CONFUSED I'm sure your dress is lovely, but i just clicked on the Joe Brown website and my eyes, my eyes! The number of horrors on there.

DianaT1969 · 23/10/2016 08:20

OP - would something like this work? With a full torso control slip underneath perhaps? Tkmaxx usually do them for under £10.

Asos Wiggle Dresses. Very flattering and all around £40. The fabric skims rather than clings.

DianaT1969 · 23/10/2016 08:32

I have an asos wiggle dress and I love it. Comes high on the neckline though. No v or scoop necks.

MrsT2007 · 23/10/2016 10:15

Bravissimo!

Silverstreaks · 23/10/2016 10:35

My shoulders are broad and the most flattering neckline for me is square. Scoop is good too.
I had a quick look at the Joe Brown's site and although I'm not keen on most of it there were some dresses that might have suitable necklines for you and any wobbly bits you can wrangle with Spanx or similar.

StillMaidOfStars · 23/10/2016 13:02

I just bought as Asos Wiggle and it's fab. Yes it's a high neckline but I'm disproportionately broad across my sternum and shoulders (albeit in an overall small frame) and it doesn't seem to be unflatteringly high.

YoScienceBitch · 23/10/2016 19:39

Hi everyone! I bought a dress today! Thankyou for all your help. Am I allowed to post a photo for some honest opinions?

Very nice. Quite va-va-voom but you've got the figure for it. Interestingly, a neck line I never would have thought would work, but it does!

StephenKatz · 24/10/2016 08:40

Gorgeous!

BusterGonad · 24/10/2016 08:57

Looking good OP! Wink

WhatamessIgotinto · 24/10/2016 09:54

You have a killer figure!

Silverstreaks · 24/10/2016 10:24

Looks great. Nice neckline.

Diggingmywayout · 24/10/2016 10:28

I love it on you!

SpecialStains · 24/10/2016 10:30

You look stunning. Have an awesome birthday!

YoScienceBitch · 24/10/2016 19:57

Aww Thankyou :)

It was 25 pounds from quiz if anyone else if interested in.
(Would recommend giant Bridget jones pants to go under if your stomach is anything like mine!)
