Mine doesn't. In my ideal world, I'd be wafting around in beautiful dresses but since I'm either wrangling my 4 & 6 year olds or working at home in my box room, I'd look a bit ridiculous especially when I'm wrapped in my slanket. I've finally weaned myself off the stupid but gorgeous shoes after nearly losing a foot in the playground, but I can't stop lusting over the impractical dresses...

I work in a Reception class so need practical and sturdy clothing that's not dry-clean only and doesn't stain (a surprising amount of them are regularly sick, some quite spectacularly violently on my shoes). So while I used to dress in Karen Millen and Reiss stuff, I've realised that £90 blouses won't withstand the revolting-ness I'm under attack from. We've two boys who are a bit filthy, so any sort of nice clothing must be hidden from them, also.

I do sometimes rebel against the natural order and wear designer-y stuff for school. Like the tan Mulberry pumps I bought after much deliberation which a small person was sick all over. I cried for a week and held a funeral for them. I have a beautiful Ted Baker dress I often wear when I know we'll be painting because it's splotchy and paint won't show up on it.

One day I will be wafting about in kaftans on a yacht and dressed in Badgley Mischka of an evening. Until them I'm going to continue with the inappropriate footwear and enjoy it.

On a serious note, I think when you have children and go down the practical-clothing-route it's important to hold on to some semblance of who you were prior to that. Stupid shoes and silly dresses are my own little revolt against the Joules-filled wardrobe.

Yes .. I wear jeans and pumps with Breton tops and slim jumpers and the like . I'm a sahm although my son is at school in the day . I'm either cleaning or cooking or doing jobs so don't wear posh clothes .

Oh god, I'm not sure I'd have survived the mulberry shoes incident! I think in need to set up a clothes club - like a book club only we wear our favourite child unfriendly clothes and feel glam. (With wine, obvs)

In my head I'm skinny and wearing pencil dresses and killer high heels (like I used to - sob!). In reality I'm often running around after a toddler and I work in a casual office so am in jeans and flats!

I have now started shopping in the sale sales - the reduced so many times that it's going in the skip sales - for work. It's amazing what you find. I'm slowly building up a quirky cheap wardrobe for work and everyday.

I'm a sahm and wear skinny jeans and low-heeled or flat boots pretty much every day in winter and flat brogues with holes in them (they're nicer than they sound) in the summer. I gave up heels the day I wore some out with my baby DD in her pram and I fell flat on my face! I don't blame the heels - just my not being able to walk properly in them with a pram for some reason... Think as I am quite tall the height of the pram handle pulled me off balance.

I do like to dress up, but I either save it for weekends or just wear something nice on my top half and wear the jeans and boots / brogues on my bottom half. I do wear dresses sometimes, but wear them with opaque tights and boots, so still fairly practical.

I think I've managed to crack this.

I like to be comfortable in my clothes, but this can be boring or scruffy. I focus on buying clothes that are smart casual so they can be dressed up or down. For example, I have a denim dress that I can wear with flat sandals during the day and heels and jewellery for a night out.

I love reading fashion blogs and sometimes buy an item of clothing that looks so stylish on the lovely blogger....but then I remember I'm a 49yo mother of 3, working in a dull office in an ordinary town, and have no occasion whatsoever to wear said item without looking utterly ridiculous and far too fashion-y for my lifestyle. So it usually goes back.

sadly, yes it does. I work in an SEN school, and need to wear practical, washable, dark colours in flexible clothes that are cheap. This usually means stretch skinnies, t-shirts and trainers. At the weekend as I'm usually shopping, cleaning and gardening, or asleep, my home clothes are the same.

I'm sick of it and would love to wear something a little more attractive.

I'm guilty of dressing like a girl with a fabulous job in the city with a French lover, when in fact I'm a part time student, full time single mum, attempting to be a girlfriend and have a crappy local job

I'm a rock chick/scruff bag, who has a corporate job and needs to look respectable.

I'd much rather be wearing skinny jeans, a band teeshirt and leopard print.

I think so, I work in the media with a lot of cr gives so everyone wears whatever they want. It's all on the casual side. I wear trendy clothes with a bit of an urban edge- sometimes more classic but ideally a little bit more edgy. Plain colours, simple styles, very on trend accessories. All practical though I hate to be uncomfortable so I'm always warm and generally in flats.

Today I bought a black Ivy Park gilet and beanie which I'll wear with skinny jeans and an oversized top or structured sports leggings and a baggy cropped jumper and black Chelsea boots. It's not for everyone but that's what I like.

My head: a cross between Fearne cotton and alexa chung.

Reality: jeans and a jumper.

Although I have a job now so I get to dress up in 'me clothes' twice a week. Yay to a mix between vintage and chanel style clothes.
