Who wears Gudrun Sjoden clothes???

Obviously, lots of clothes aren't my sort of thing, but I can easily picture who would wear them, IYSWIM. I've wondered this before looking at their adverts, but I went and looked at their website this evening, and I'm just now totally failing to imagine anyone I know wearing those clothes.

Are they one of these things that looks weird on the screen but nice IRL? (Toast / Hush etc seem to be like that from comments on here.) Or some kind of cunning tax dodge / drugs scam?

I love lagenlook layered clothes. I like many of the pieces offered but as they aren't coming to a charity shop near me, or particularly in my price range on ebay, i don't wear them.

I think they're fairly timeless and last.

There are a few items of clothing that are really beautiful. Its the Lagen look. I think if you buy a jumper or the odd thing rather than the whole thing. Some of it is odd but some of the patterns and embroidered items are lovely. I tended to buy things when i was larger in size but haven't bought anything for years.

I have wondered that myself.

One of my friends does. It looks just the same as on the websites / magazines - just a bit odd. The clothes suit her personality but they are not flattering (she's very pretty and has a great figure). I'm not quite sure who their target audience is TBH in terms of body shape or lifestyle - the clothes look very impractical.

My mates mum does. She's a published poet who lives on a farm in the lakes.

I bought some blouses from there and some trousers, the trousers are fantastic, 6 years on still going strong and my favourite for summer, the blouses, one bled colour all over itself and one faded by the end of the season. It's pot luck with the quality and it's really not cheap

I was so genuinely impressed by how unbland the models on their site look, that I tried to find something to buy. Nothing doing.

In Sweden we say that librarians do, and other "kulturtanter" (those middle aged women who consume art, literature and other culture while the middle-aged men play golf or something).

I have just had a look at their site and it's not great but I have to say I've seen Cos at its worst worse!

I live near a shop. Generally, 50+ women, in particular psychotherapists, teachers, nurses. Women who do not want or need to conform to traditional beauty ideals and who want to have a bit of fun and do their own thing. If you decided to take a felting or oil painting class or went to the theater, you'd meet quite a few of them.

I second what Silently says about the models looking unconventional in a very attractive way.

I've had a look at the website and like the look of the clothes but they are too wintery for my local climate. I liked a top but it was nearly impossible to see its actual shape on the website and it's not cheap!

Do you know what, I really admire the women who wear clothes that are a little bit bohemian / alternative. Not just Gudrun clothes but goth-like, hippie-ish stuff too. I'm tired of the skinnies / striped t shirt / ankle boots combo, even though I live in variations of that most days. And it's nice to see clothes designed for comfort rather than because they appeal to the mainstream style/beauty aesthetic. There's something feminist about that. I feel like women who wear that stuff are doing it because they love the colour and comfort of the clothes, and don't really give a shit about the dictates of fashion. That might be the case for all the skinnies / stripey top wearing women too of course. But when I see a woman wearing really bright, alternative or 'different' clothes, I think, go you!

I like some of the styling on the GS website, and I really admire the sustainability ethos and use of diverse models. I wouldn't wear a whole outfit, but I've got a couple of tunics with folkloric embroidery on that I wear as dresses. And I wore a shortish rusty coloured one as a dress the other day, with a tan cashmere cardigan, brown tights and tan boots. I belted it in with a skinny leopard print belt. And I had three compliments from random strangers in one morning. So I think it can look good - so much less boring than the standard White Stuff/Fat Face stuff. And it's not the magazine editor, French Voguette look that's ubiquitous on the high street, and on Pinterest and which I'm starting to lose interest in. I love the creativity of dressing and when I wear that look now, it sometimes feels so unimaginative...

Love the idea of kulturtanter. We have lots of those here (university town in a rural area). In fact I think I'd like to be one when I grow up

Well I guess I fit a lot of that stereotype (except I'm not rich and don't even like the countryside). I really want to like them for many of the reasons Wombat gives: they're kind of anti fashion and they use women my age as models. So I'm glad they exist but sadly they don't do it for me at all.

I really like the way they put colours together and use mostly natural fabrics. If I went into a shop and had a rummage I would probably find individual pieces that would work. But not that whole look - it would actually have suited me more when I was young and firm of body but these days I want less floppiness in my clothes and more structure.

Now I think that was what puzzled me about them. I know lots and lots of women who wear hippy bohemian / alternative clothes (I live in west Wales ), and lots of artists. But somehow I couldn't imagine any of them wearing GS clothes.

I suspect it's a combination of price (maybe you need to be a university art lecturer rather than an artist who works in a cafe on the side to get by) and the way they look on the website (not enough strawbale huts and mud?).

Funnily enough, I live in west wales too (and have totally outed which university town now). Maybe it is the university salaries as opposed to the proper hippies who've moved out to the sticks' way of life that makes the difference.

Having never heard of this designer I had to google her. I really don't like the website. It isn't selling the clothes to me at all.

It is more of a concept than a site designed to sell clothes. I agree with TheWombat that the ubiquitous skinnies tend to be a bit boring, but these clothes are not for me at all.

I wear these clothes. I'm 54, an artistic bohemian librarian teacher type. Such a profile! I love colour and vibrancy and despise all black-grey-beige-brown-moss green-slum coloured clothing. So these work for me. They are pricey yes, but at this stage in my life I can afford that. I don't do the layered thing though as I am petite and small. I think layering is perfect for larger women, and in particular the tall lanky models they use on their website. Their customer service is abysmal however so caution is advised. Also, some clothes may be made in China....yikes....for that price?

Well I have a lovely black and white print dress. I also have some stripey leggings. No I don't wear them together. Ok a lot of the stuff looks a but art teacherish but you don't have to pile it all on!
