Mission to find the perfect smart low heel ankle boot

I've been struggling with this for the last couple of years - I had the perfect pair, wore them to death and never found anything as good again!

I'm looking for an ankle boot that is:
-black
-low heel (1.5 inch or so max)
-look smart enough to wear with a work dress as well as with skinnies etc
-not clumpy

I wouldn't been seen dead wearing Uggs unless as slippers, but some of their non-sheepskin boots are lovely.

I have been looking for a brown/tan pair of Chelsea boots for a while - they were right at the top of my price range but I got a few quid off - and I know I will get years of wear out of them.
