Stupid question about a charity shop find

Gingernaut · 20/10/2016 22:27

I've bought a Regatta anorak from a charity shop.

It's great but one thing is puzzling me

There's a small pop fastened loop of fabric at each cuff.

Why?

Like this, see?

To attach your gloves to so they don't get lost? Bit like having them on elastic threaded through the sleeves but a more grown up version?

sleeplessinselondon · 20/10/2016 22:33

To hold gloves?

DianaMitford · 20/10/2016 22:33

Probably so you can roll the sleeves up. Is there a matching popper on the outside of the sleeve?

elephantoverthehill · 20/10/2016 22:34

There was probably a detachable fleece with it originally.

DianaMitford · 20/10/2016 22:34

Forget my reply! To hang things off I would guess

MinnowAndTheBear · 20/10/2016 22:34

Isn't it to attach a fleece layer, for a 3-in-1 jacket? Is there another popper near the hood?

FlouncingIntoAutumn · 20/10/2016 22:34

Or for if it originally had a detachable fleece lining.

doodlejump1980 · 20/10/2016 22:34

Is there a missing inner shell/ fleece lining that attaches with loops through the poppers?

Emochild · 20/10/2016 22:35

To attach the fleece liner so the sleeves don't separate

MarvinKMooney · 20/10/2016 22:36

It wold have had a removable inner fleece. I've got a north face one. The poppers go through a loop on the fleece to stop the sleeves riding up. Has it got 2 zips, one on the inside?

Gingernaut · 20/10/2016 22:36

I was thinking that.

There are no other pop fasteners in the garment but it struck me as odd that an anorak made for adults would have something that looks so childish

OP posts:
Gingernaut · 20/10/2016 22:37

Yes. Two zippers.

MarvinKMooney · 20/10/2016 22:37

Ah lots of cross posts!

LIZS · 20/10/2016 22:37

Yes it would be for a fleece lining to stop the sleeve riding up inside. You may be able to buy an interactive fleece which would zip in and cuffs popper together.

MarvinKMooney · 20/10/2016 22:38

The fleece zips into the inside creating a warm lining.

Gingernaut · 20/10/2016 22:40

Sorry, I was thinking they were for hanging things from, but the fleece liner explanation makes a lot more sense.

There was blue fleece material stuck in the velcro.

I've just spent about twenty minutes picking it out before washing the anorak

Thanks for replying so quickly.

So.

I'm looking for an interactive fleece?

OP posts:
MarvinKMooney · 20/10/2016 22:42

You can buy spare fleece liners for north face jackets. Wonder if you can for regatta? Best to go for the same brand as the zip lengths might be different.

purpleporpoise · 20/10/2016 22:44

I got my fleece liner for £10 from regatta factory shop at the factory outlet. It will fasten on the cuffs as well as the zips

MarvinKMooney · 20/10/2016 22:45

Having said that the liners are just zip through fleeces. You might be able to pick somethING up that does the job. mine has got a standard zip - nothung special really.

Thank you all for your help.

For an even more flexible plan u could wear any fleece at all under it, unattached - then u can easily take off one layer at a time if u want!
I'm always attracted to 3 in1 coats, but not sure I've ever been convinced that a separate garments aren't just as good when I've had one
