Spanx or similar?

I'm a size 12-14, with a lovely floppy mum tum following a Csection and open surgery in last five years. Have a lovely dress to wear this weekend but need a flat(ter) streamlined stomach...

Which control pants do you recommend? I've got some size 14 m and s ones from a few years back but they don't do anything. Do I need to get a size 12? Or even a ten? Not a fan of the obvious bulges you see on some people...Also the whole body things that come down from below your bra, any good? Need to order online today or tomorrow to guarantee delivery by the weekend so no pressure!

Thanks all.

Watching, I need exactly what you describe and have found nothing suitable so far!

LifeIsGoodish · 19/10/2016 20:41

Spanx are the best I have ever used. The only ones that show no VPL, and that don't roll down my mumtum. I have the high-waisted ones, and they are surprisingly comfortable.

Catcrazy08 · 19/10/2016 20:44

I just bought a pack of two medium control shorts from Matalan for £6, looked at spanx but pricey...

youllneverknow · 19/10/2016 21:24

Definitely the high-waisted Spanx. Comfortable and don't roll down. Have you got a Home Bargains near you? They often sell them for only £5 which is so much cheaper than anywhere else.

LifeIsGoodish · 19/10/2016 21:34

Yes, Spanx are very pricey, but give good VFM. I've had mine over 10y and they're only showing wear in one place at the crotch, where I carelessly caught them in the zip of my bag. They've accommodated some pretty big weight fluctuations. I don't wear them very often, several times a year maybe, but then I wear them for hours and hours at a time, and they don't go baggy, lose support or get uncomfortable. None of the other shapewear or supportwear I have ever tried did all that.

Can also, in theory, go to the loo without taking them off!

Oh thanks, will check out home bargains in the morning before ordering... What size do you recommend I get?

Hi OP. Spanx are good. I have the high waist/shorts style (sexy Wink). I just checked and mine are a Size C. I'm a size 10-12. It says on the pack that C is suitable for those weighing 70-82 kilos, with some slight variations for height. But I have them a few years now, so the sizing specs may have changed. Suggest you check out the Spanx website. Good luck!

That's interesting sunset as I'm in that weight range, comfortably but not that size... Will check out the website agin tomorrow. I think I was in between sizes last time I looked...

I've got several pairs of Spanx, but find primark better. They have a brilliant body suit with straps but it finishes under your own bra, also their vest tops are fantastic they really flatter the stomach Smile

youllneverknow · 20/10/2016 06:21

I'm a size 12 and mine are size C. Hope they have some in Home Bargains. There were loads in ours a couple of weeks ago Smile

VulvaInLaw · 20/10/2016 08:12

Thanks all
